Classes

Levels 1-PP

The Acrobatic Arts Syllabus includes 9 Levels and 3 pre-professional levels. Students will move through the levels individually and multiple levels are grouped together for classes that are working on similar skill blocks. Tricks will include headstands, handstands, cartwheels, bridges, walkovers, round-offs, partner work, and more. All classes will have an opportunity to perform at the recital.

Rising Stars

This is a non-assisted program that focuses on the holistic development of the child. Students will develop gross and fine-motor skills and control, Primary Acro skills, partner work and drills. All classes will have an opportunity to perform at the recital.

Tiny Stars

This is a non-assisted program that focuses on the holistic development of the child. Students will develop gross and fine-motor skills and control, introductory Acro body shapes and tricks, and kinesthetic awareness. At the same time, children will learn how to be in a class, develop their focus and listening skills, and learn co-operative skills. All classes will have an opportunity to perform at the recital.

Twinkle Stars

This is a parent/guardian-assisted program where your child will develop their gross and fine-motor skills, explore foundational Acro positions, learn how to follow instructions from a teacher, take turns, and have fun in the studio.

Strengthen & Stretch

This class focuses on specific strengthening exercises to enhance a dancer's training as well as increasing flexibility in all areas. Dress code is a leotard or dance top, shorts with tights or dance pants. Bare feet or jazz shoes can be used. There is no recital for this class.

Leaps & Turns

An extra technique class to supplement training in the style of Jazz/Lyrical. This class focuses solely on the progression of technical leaps and turns, with little or no focus on choreography. Dress code is a leotard or dance top, shorts with tights or dance pants. Jazz shoes, Twylas or Foot Undeez are appropriate. There is no recital for this class.

Hip Hop

This style of dance is truly part of a whole culture of music and movement. It is most simply described as choreography to urban music, widely viewed on MTV and similar entertainment avenues. Dress code is any clothing that allows comfortable movement. Jeans are not permitted. Knee pads are recommended when learning floorwork. Clean sneakers are required for class and performance, or black hip hop sneakers.

Contemporary

This style is thought to be a hybrid of technique from the genres of Ballet, Lyrical, Modern & Jazz, even Hip Hop. It can be performed to many different styles of music, and is the most eclectic style of dance, varying from smooth and graceful movement, to sharp and athletic movement, with the common thread being a connectivity of mind and body. Dress code is a leotard or dance top, shorts with footless tights or dance pants. All classes wear Twylas/Pirouettes in the recital.

Lyrical

This style of dance combines technique and styles from Ballet and Jazz. It focuses specifically on the story and the emotions of the music. Dancers must be simultaneously enrolled in a ballet class to enroll in Lyrical. Dress code is a leotard or dance top, shorts with tights or dance pants. All classes wear Twylas/Pirouettes in the recital.

Ballet/Pointe

This style of dance is referred to as the core of all dance styles. This classical dance form is characterized by grace and precision of movement. More advanced dancers will learn to perform the technique "en pointe." Pointe readiness is determined by our instructors and all students must be enrolled in Ballet 2x per week to be eligible for pointe work. Dress code is a black leotard and pink tights with hair in a bun. All classes wear pink ballet slippers/pointe shoes in the recital.

Jazz

This style of dance is energetic and sharp movements with the body. Focusing on strength and flexibility, athletic leaps and turns are taught to fast-paced music. Dress code is leotard or dance top, shorts with tights or dance pants. All classes wear tan jazz shoes in the recital.

Tap

This style of dance isolates the foot to create various sounds, focusing on both energy and rhythm. Dress code is leotard or dance top, shorts with tights or dance pants. Tap 1 & Tap 2 wear tan tap shoes in the recital. Tap 3-5 wear black split sole tap shoes in the recital.

Tiny Stars Hip Hop

A 45 minute intro to hip hop. Instruction is focused on musicality, retention of steps, body isolations and FUN! Ages 4-5

Tiny Stars AcroDance

A 45 minute Acro class, class focusing on gymnastics floor skills and flexibility. Ages 6-7. These classes do not need to be taken in combination with another class.

Rising Stars AcroDance

A 45 minute Acro class, class focusing on gymnastics floor skills and flexibility. Ages 6-7. These classes do not need to be taken in combination with another class.

Rising Stars Hip Hop

A 45 minute intro to hip hop. Instruction is focused on musicality, retention of steps, body isolations and FUN! Ages 6-7

Rising Stars Ballet/Lyrical

A 1-hour intro classical ballet class and lyrical designed to supplement the Combo 4 and 5 syllabus, where Ballet is no longer part of the cirriculum. This class can be taken on it's own or in addition to a Combo or Hip Hop class. Ages 6 -7

Combo 5

A one hour class with instruction in Tap and Jazz. This class is in preparation for "graduating" into Academy level classes. Students will participate in 2 recital routines, with the purchase of a single 2-in-1 recital costume! This class can be supplemented with Pre-Ballet. Students should be 7 by December 1st.

Combo 4

A one hour class devoted solely to Tap/Jazz, featuring more advanced class work. This class can be supplemented with Pre-Ballet. Students should be 6 by December 1st.

Combo 3

Replaces tumbling with a first look into jazz. The class remains an hour, but still provides a solid foundation for all three styles of dance. Kindergarten level, students should be 5 be December 1st.

Combo 2

A follow-up to Combo 1, all dance styles remain the same, but feature a more challenging syllabus. Second year Pre-K, students should be 4 by December 1st.

Combo 1

This class provides a basic introduction into tap and ballet. A portion of an hour-long class is also devoted to "song & dance" as well as structural strengthening exercises. First year Pre-K, students should be 3 by December 1st.

2's in Tutus

This class provides a basic introduction to ballet and creative movement. A 45 minute class designed to introduce music and movement, develop listening skills and gain comfort with a classroom setting. We request all caregivers remain in the lobby during the duration of the class. Dancers should be 2 by December 1st.
