Hudson River Performing Arts (HRPAC), located in Fishkill, New York, is a vibrant dance institution dedicated to fostering passion, discipline, and self-confidence in dancers of all ages, from preschoolers to pre-professionals. With over 22 years as a cornerstone of the Fishkill community, HRPAC offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to build strong foundations in technique and artistry. The studio boasts two spacious studios with state-of-the-art marley flooring and mirrors, emphasizing correct technique, poise, movement vocabulary, and artistry in a fun and supportive environment. HRPAC's distinguished faculty includes Lisa Joy Davis (Owner & Director), Rachel Hamdan, Savanna Lugo, Amber Wirthmann Mann, Catherine Stabe, Julianne Cerreta (ABT National Training Curriculum certified), Kathleen McAree, and Kristen Polgreen. Students can explore a wide array of dance styles, including Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Musical Theater, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, Flamenco, Zumba, and Barre. The studio is particularly renowned for its strong emphasis on classical ballet, highlighted by its annual presentation of "The Nutcracker," providing pre-professional students with invaluable performance opportunities. Classes

Recital

Students participating in our annual recital will be charged a performance fee in addition to costume charges to help cover the cost of the theater. Recital performance fees are due in March with the March tuition payment.

Nutcracker

Company Nutcracker costume fees are due in July/August. Nutcracker performance fees are due in November, along with recital costume fees, to cover the costs associated with this festive production.

Ballet

All students participating in our annual full-length ballet performance will be charged a performance fee in addition to costume charges. This fee contributes to essential production elements like props, scenery, theater rental, and extra rehearsals.

Sensory Sensitive Class
$100.00

Provides a creative environment to explore dance through movement, rhythm and music. Students will focus on movements one step at a time, repeating the step, and combining steps to form a dance. Students will work on gross motor movements like skipping and jumping, as well as balancing skills.

This class will run in 5 week sessions.

Ballet program

Students enrolled in our ballet program participate in this annual event, with all leading roles danced by our own talented pre-professional students.

Ballet Repertory Company

For our pre-professional students, the Ballet Repertory Company is comprised of students selected through annual auditions. Company members learn a wide range of choreography, from classical to contemporary, intended to educate and inspire both dancers and audience.

Tumbling for Dancers

This class is geared for our students that are 7 – 12 years old (as of December 1, 2024). Students will learn the beginning foundations of macro, a style defined by combining the artistry of dance with that of acrobatic movement.

Pre-dance Combo (3-5, must be 3 by December 1)

Dance classes designed for our youngest dancers, both male and female. These classes introduce the basics of ballet and tap technique and incorporate gross and fine motor skills with attention given to color/shape recognition and spatial awareness.

Musical Theatre Dance

T his open level class is for students enrolled in Ballet 3, Jazz 3 or above. Students will learn choreography and characterization to music from popular Broadway musicals.

Dance Company

Dance Company is by audition only. Students will study various styles of Broadway Character Dance, Jazz, or Contemporary, and learn choreography to be performed as part of the Hudson River Dance Company.

Lyrical/Modern

A blending of techniques is taught through stretching, center and floor work combinations, traveling progressions and choreography. Artistry and performance, as well as mental alertness and observation skills, are emphasized.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop dance is made up of many genres that include elements of popping, locking, jazz, tap, etc to form its own style. Our hip hop classes are divided by age, but can be adjusted based on ability.

Tap

Discover the style of the old hoofers, comparable to that of the modern style of Savion Glover and the late Gregory Hines. Discovering rhythm, style, and sound, tappers will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap.

Jazz

Jazz has continued to evolve with various ethnic and cultural influences since its origin in the late 1950’s. Dancers will expand their technique and understanding of jazz dance to cover traditional, contemporary, and Broadway styles.

Pre-Pointe/Pointe

Students may participate in our pointe program by invitation only. For the more serious dancer, this class is designed to help students learn, improve, and perfect pointe technique, precision, and artistry through barre work, center floor combinations, traveling progressions, and choreography.

Ballet

The ballet program at HRPAC is the heart and soul of our studio. It is designed to provide dancers with a solid foundation of training in preparation for possible professional careers. A blending of the Vaganova, Cecchetti, and Royal Academy methods are taught in order to produce a well rounded, well educated dancer.

The Director may ask some lower level or recreational students to participate in additional pieces for The Nutcracker. These students must be available for rehearsals during this week. These students will also be required to fulfill specific class requirements as noted in the contract.

Company Nutcracker Weeks
$700.00

This is a 2 week long intensive that requires an audition for our Ballet Repertory Company. This intensive is for our more serious students in level D and above and is for the purpose of learning Nutcracker choreography. Ballet Repertory Company is a year long commitment that begins in July with summer requirements and run through the following June. In order to fulfill your commitment, you are required to take the summer company intensive along with a Director approved summer ballet intensive. Through the school year each dancer is required to take 2 ballet classes, a jazz class, and their ballet repertory company rehearsal. In addition to the 2 ballet classes, some dancers might be given additional ballet classes and pointe classes depending on their level. Students in this intensive must bring water. Dancers will be allowed to leave to buy lunch.

This camp is for all students 7 years of age by December 1, 2025 and above and will include different forms of Broadway-style theatre jazz. During this week long intensive, students will get a more in-depth look at Broadway by learning choreography and lines that they might see on the Broadway stage. Students in this intensive must bring water and lunch.
