As the newest member here at AIM, I would like to share my dance journey with all of you! Just like you, I started as a baby in my Ballet/Tap combo class! My mom was pregnant with my youngest sister during my first year of dance, and I had become so attached to her that

AIM prepared her for college auditions and granted her an internship and work study during her senior year. Once in college my daughter returned to AIM as a sub teacher and found the same support from AIM during these stage of her life also. AIM held a fundraiser after Hurricane Maria and donated some of the proceeds to our family which helped with my father in law’s funeral. It has been a decade full of support and love given to our family by the AIM staff and their families.

My son just finished his first year of hip hop here and he absolutely loved it! Great teachers and staff and an amazing recital! Thank you!!

This combo class gives students half the class of Ballet technique and half the class of Jazz technique.

This combo class gives students half the class of jazz technique and half the class of Hip Hop technique.

Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes.

Acro trains in the elements of gymnastic floor work. This is used to combine classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context.

Hip Hop Dance is a style of dance with deep historical and social roots in African culture. It’s a part of a whole culture of Hip Hop, which started in the 1970’s in the Bronx, New York.

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer’s movements attempt to show the meaning of the music.

Tap is a dance form performed wearing shoes fitted with metal taps, characterized by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels.

Jazz dance is a performance dance technique and style that first emerged in Brazil in the early twentieth century. Jazz dance may refer to vernacular jazz or to Broadway or theatrical jazz. Both genres build on African American vernacular styles of dancing that emerged with jazz music.

Ballet is an artistic dance form performed to music using precise and highly formalized set steps and gestures. Classical ballet, which originated in Renaissance Italy and established its present form during the 19th century, is characterized by light, graceful, fluid movements and the use of pointe shoes.

Additionally, the majority of our students take Acro to help build their strength and add an extra element to their dance technique. Every student is required to take Ballet, Jumps & Turns, and Acro.

Individual teams may compete in Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Tap. Students will then be placed in Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, and/or Hip Hip.

All students must take at least 1 Ballet class per week (2 per week for soloists) and a Jumps and & Turns technique class on top of their specific genre classes. The AIM Competition Team is made up of 5 teams; Minis, Petites, Juniors, Teens, and Seniors.

Our recreational dance classes go from age 7-17 and include classes in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, and Hip Hop. Recreational dance gives our students the opportunity to learn the discipline, technique, and creativity of any of the dance styles that they choose. Students will enjoy their time spent with friends and their instructors in these 60 minute long classes.

At AIM we believe every child deserves a strong dance foundation from their very first class. In all of our combo classes students will learn independence, cooperation, and sharing as well as movement skills such as balance, coordination, and fine motor skills. All of our instructors strive to help our dancers find the joy and creativity in dance. Our Dance Beginnings classes start at age 2 and go through age 6. All of the classes are combo classes which may include ballet, jazz, hip hop, or tap.
