Stage Door School of Dance

Stage Door’s weDance program offers classes for differently-abled dancers with cognitive, physical, behavioral, and/or emotional needs. Our innovative program is celebrating over 12 seasons of providing socialization, joy, fun, and, of course, dance for EVERYONE!

Stage Door’s Fine Arts Club is a 2 hour preschool creative arts class operating Monday-Friday where children ages 2-5 years old will enjoy learning Dance, Yoga, Fitness, Music, Art, and Drama throughout the week, with a different theme each day. The Fine Arts Club is fun and active learning for preschoolers that develops social skills and talents at a young age. Children will enjoy dance, yoga, and fitness, music, art, and drama with imagination and creativity leading the way.

Stage Door School of Dance’s Summer Dance Session operates from July 11 – August 13. Dancer’s register to attend at least one class per week in their genre of choice based on their experience, age, and skill level. Summer Dance also includes private lessons, acrobatics and tumbling classes, as well as our WeDance program for differently-abled dancers!

For over 12 years, our pioneer program weDance (formerly DanceAbility) and expert staff have helped countless children and loved ones celebrate their abilities through music, movement, and dance. We make the dreams of becoming a dancer come true with our five amazing classes. Additional Information: A “dance shadow” for every dance student is assigned. State-of-the-art, fully accessible dance studios and restrooms. Dance recital is held at the Staller Center at Stony Brook University in June (optional). Stage Door’s Lyrical & Modern classes fuse Ballet and Jazz while focusing on emotional connection, technique training, as well as lyric interpretation through movement.

Stage Door’s Hip Hop classes include a cardio warm up with strength training and progresses into a combination of Jazz-Funk and street style of dance. Dancer’s focus on coordination, strength, and rhythmic skills, all to the fun of up-tempo music.

Stage Door’s Jazz classes are based on a combo of Broadway and Modern Jazz, unless otherwise noted. Our classes are structured to build strength, as well as develop flexibility, coordination, and rhythm.

Stage Door’s Ballet classes focus on classical style, as well as graceful and narrative dance. The study of ballet is essential for all students wishing to advance their dance ability as it’s technique is at the root of several different dance forms.

Stage door’s tap classes are designed to teach our students rhythm and coordination. Tap is a dance in which the rhythm is audibly tapped out by the heel or toes of the dancer wearing the specialized shoes.

Dancers are paired with a teacher during the 2025-2026 dance season to assist teachers with their weekly class(es). Student apprentices must be at least 10 years old, and have taken dance classes for a minimum of 1 year.

Stage Door’s Youth and Teen dance classes offer the widest range of dance opportunities for dancers between the ages of 5 years old -17 years old. While classes continue to be dance informative while fun, we develop each class structure and curriculum based on dancer age level. We understand that with each age group comes a different scope of physical, emotional, and learning skills.

Stage Door’s Preschool classes are designed to introduce your dancer to the fundamentals of movement, coordination, following directions, communication, parental separation, and more all under the dance umbrella. Pre-Schoolers are defined as any child between the ages of 12 months to 5 years of age.

Stage Door’s Preschool classes are designed to introduce your dancer to the fundamentals of movement, coordination, following directions, communication, parental separation, and more all under the dance umbrella. We offer preschool classes Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with morning classes available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

Stage Door’s Acrobatics & Tumbling program is the perfect introduction to Acro without having to dive fully into the gymnastics world. With classes for all levels on Saturdays, our Acrobatics & Tumbling classes help instill the firm connection between acrobatics, tumbling, fitness, conditioning, and dance.

The Stage Door School of Dance Program for Differently-Abled dancers with physical, cognitive, behavioral, and/or emotional needs. weDance Shadows are volunteer student assistants assigned to each individual weDance Dancer. Shadows work closely with each dancer to break down instructions and choreography, provide physical prompting or mobility, as well as assisting the teacher throughout the class.

An SDSD tropical inspired Day Camp. Join us for a tropical dance escape filled with island beats, swaying palms, and Moana-inspired fun. Dancers will move to the rhythm of the ocean, explore playful island dances, and set off on an unforgettable journey of music and movement. The island adventure concludes on August 14!

An SDSD Pop-Star Day Camp. Become a Pop Star! At this high-energy dance camp, kids channel a different music icon daily (including Taylor Swift!) through choreography, music video creation, and lip-sync battles. Working with new friends, campers bring chart-topping hits to life, culminating in a grand performance on August 15.

An SDSD Pop-Star Day Camp. The weDance edition of this day camp has been specifically designed for differently-abled dancers, and will be additionally staffed to meet the needs of our dancers. Become a Pop Star! At this high-energy dance camp specifically designed for differently-abled dancers, kids channel a different music icon daily (including Taylor Swift!) through choreography, music video creation, and lip-sync battles. Working with new friends, campers bring chart-topping hits to life, culminating in a grand performance on July 3.

An SDSD Mystery-Solving Preschool Day Camp. Join us at the Fancy Mouse Mystery Dance House! Each morning, decode a special Mouse Message and embark on dance adventures filled with creative movement, acro, dress-up games, and mysteries. Celebrate at our fancy party finale on July 3!

An SDSD Descendants Day Camp. Step into a world where heroes and villains unite on the dance floor at the Auradon Prep Dance Camp! Create enchanted props, show off a royal (or wicked) style, and join in the magical games. Dress as your favorite character for our spellbinding finale on July 3!

Stage Door School of Dance’s Summer Dance Camps operate during two designated weeks over the summer, June 27 – July 1 & August 15 – August 19. Dancer’s attend camp Monday-Friday from 9am to 3pm, with each day dedicated to a different theme, and culminating in an end of week in-studio performance for family and friends.
