Dance Central Performing Arts

Musical Theater combines three elements - singing, movement and acting. Students develop skills in these three areas through activities that harness creativity and team building. Our program is designed to help students gain confidence in being on stage and performing in front of an audience.

Hip Hop is a loose jazz form sometimes referred to as funk and is often seen in music videos and in dance clubs. our instructors teach upbeat, high energy, and rhythmic combinations focusing on body isolations and smooth or sharp movements. All of the basic dance skills like keeping rhythm, following choreography and developing body control, as well as performance skills such as stage presence and improvisation are taught through kid-friendly Hip Hop style music and movement

This special class combines a half hour of Ballet and half an hour of Tap (some classes offer a half hour of Jazz/Hip Hop). Children in this class get to learn the beauty of ballet and the cool fun sounds tap can make. We offer several levels.

Lyrical dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres, including modern, jazz, and classical ballet. Lyrical dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Lyrical dance stresses versatility and improvisation.

At Dance Central we’re on the cutting edge of what’s hot! All of our jazz classes incorporate the fun funky styles and classic jazz styles. This class is incorporate turns, leaps and lots of technique. This fun energetic class is a favorite for everyone young and old.

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. We incorporate many styles of tap including rhythm, Broadway and contemporary tap. This is a great workout while learning cool moves and syncopation with your feet

Our Ballet Program aims to provide students with a rich knowledge of classical ballet technique. Through this program we provide well planned lessons that develop our Students into the Ballet dancer they want to be.

The AcroDance/Tumbling program is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of AcroDance: flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering and tumbling. You can even show case your skills in a dance routine. Classes are designed to be broken up by age/ability.

This unique class combines ballet basics, coordination skills, rhythm exercises and fantasy dancing. This quick paced class is especially designed for the attention span of a 3 year old. We incorporate props and use lots of imagery in this class to inspire our little dancers to be creative with their movement.

Those special smiles and hugs in our class designed especially for the parent and toddler. Songs & exercises based on acro dance/tumbling fundamentals – specifically designed for this age group, incorporating coordination skills and rhythm exercises. The class time includes a floor stretch, parent-child activities, sing-a-longs, and activities to develop gross motor skills.

Bring us the requirements necessary to complete your Girls Scouts Dance Badge. In one hour your troop will be able to fulfill these requirements. The program is run by Dance Central performing arts professional and qualified instructors.

DCPA holds eight week introductory programs in dance, musical theater, acro dance and gymnastics through the Orangetown Parks & Recreation Program. The classes run fall, winter, spring and summer sessions. Please click here to go to the Orangetown website for more information.
