International Ballet Academy

Geared towards experienced dancers aged 13 and up, this class offers rigorous ballet training, focusing on professional technique, artistry, and performance quality.

This class is for dancers aged 11 and up, providing advanced training in ballet technique, including more challenging combinations, flexibility, and endurance exercises.

Designed for students aged 9 to 11 years, Ballet 2 progresses into more complex ballet techniques, focusing on alignment, strength, and artistic expression.

This class is suitable for children aged 6 to 8 years, building upon pre-ballet foundations with more structured ballet exercises and developing coordination and musicality.

A foundational ballet class designed for young dancers aged 3 to 5 years, introducing them to basic ballet techniques and movements in a fun and engaging environment.

Our jazz and modern programs include classes for beginner through advanced dancers. As dancers progress, they are exposed to various styles of dance including jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop, and lyrical. Placement in the jazz and modern programs are by teacher evaluation.

The men’s division provides classes in technique, variations, jumps and turns, weight training, and partnering. Our dancers are trained by internationally and nationally recognized teachers and dancers. Placement in the Men’s Division is upon teacher recommendation.

Our preparatory and advanced program concentrates on perfecting technique and developing artistry through intensive instruction. Placement in this division is based on evaluation and teacher recommendation.

In the Intermediate levels, students are expected to take class three to four times per week and the students are exposed to higher levels of ballet technique as described in IBA’s syllabus. The Intermediate Division consists of three levels – Intermediate 1 – 3 and classes may be subdivided to allow teachers to work more closely with the students.

It consists of four levels – Elementary 1 through Elementary 3. Classes are based upon age, physical strength and development. Students are introduced to progressive levels of ballet technique as described in the IBA School Syllabus. Students are promoted according to individual progress in acquiring technique and strength.

These pre-ballet classes are a prelude to formal ballet instruction and introduce children to music and movement through a structured progression that stresses creativity and group interaction. Children are placed in a safe and nurturing environment.

IBA’s Pre-Professional Day (PPD) program offers a transitional experience to dancers as they move from the academic ballet setting to the world of professional dance. It provides an opportunity to increase the dancer’s stylistic range and versatility by exposing them to a variety of dance styles in class, rehearsals and performances.

A program designed exclusively for the male dancer. Current and past BBSI faculty include Peter Stark, Jock Soto, Jeffrey Rogers, Olivier Muñoz, Maxim Ponomarenko, and Patrick Frenette. BBSI 2022 was held at the International Ballet Academy from August 1-13, 2022.
