About Atlantic Dance

Atlantic Dance, nestled in the vibrant community of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, offers a dynamic array of dance disciplines for enthusiasts of all ages. Founded on the vision and love of dance of Victoria Anne Toms, the studio is led by Studio Owner & Director Mila Smith, a former performer with The Lost Colony. Mila brings a wealth of knowledge to classes in Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, and Hip Hop. Our experienced instructors further enrich our program: Ellery Sigler teaches Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Lyrical, while Angelique Furr instructs Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Acro. Maggie Bryson leads classes in Pre-Pointe and Modern. Atlantic Dance cultivates emotional storytelling through Lyrical and Modern dance, blends artistry with athleticism in Acrobatic classes, and fosters a love for movement through foundational Ballet, rhythmic Tap, expressive Jazz, and urban Hip Hop. We also offer summer workshops for intensive technique refinement, focusing on strength, flexibility, and musicality. Younger students benefit from introductory tumbling, while older students engage in advanced progressions. Atlantic Dance provides a nurturing environment and a vibrant season of dance, fostering a passion for movement and musical appreciation through engaging exercises and creative projects, ensuring a fun and enriching experience for all while adhering to local closures for safety.

Summer Workshops

We offer several workshops each summer that are designed and instructed with a mind towards enhancing the skill level of each student who attends. Attention to strength and flexibility and improved technique is accented in a fun and non-stressed atmosphere. Each day our students participate in a traditionally structured ballet class spotlighting proper technique with explanations of ballet history and terminology. Tap and jazz combination classes are included as well. Older students practice progressions and turns. Basic tumbling skills are taught to younger students. We also focus on music appreciation exercises that draw attention to different types of music and what kinds of movement fit different melodies, tempos and percussion. We watch short performance videos and a dance related craft project is scheduled for each four-day session. Everyone loves “summer dance” at Atlantic Dance.
