About The Carolina Strut Performing Arts Centre'

The Carolina Strut Performing Arts Centre, located in Morehead City, North Carolina, is a premier destination for aspiring dancers of all ages, from toddlers as young as 18 months in their "Get the Wiggles Out!" program to seasoned students. Our comprehensive curriculum nurtures passion and proficiency across a vibrant array of dance styles, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theater, and Acrobatics. We pride ourselves on building strong foundational techniques. Specific requirements encourage Jazz and Lyrical students to engage in Ballet and Pointe classes for well-rounded training. Younger students benefit from engaging "Combo Classes" blending Tap, Ballet, and Tumbling, while "Level Classes" offer a structured pathway for older and more experienced dancers, focusing on dance ability, maturity, age, and impeccable Ballet technique. Notably, Level 2-3 Ballet Tech is integrated with Nutcracker choreography, providing valuable performance opportunities. The Carolina Strut boasts a dedicated and experienced faculty. Our esteemed instructors include Ballet Mistress Rebecca Fleming, with over two decades of teaching expertise, Lianda Lynk, a distinguished educator with extensive performance and teaching experience, and Kaitlynn Gaskins, who excels in contemporary and jazz. Emi Jo Kell, a talented instructor and choreographer for the competition team, specializes in Hip Hop and instills confidence and a strong work ethic. Leah Kell is also a valued member of our instructional team. Students have ample opportunities to hone their skills and stage presence, including participation in a competitive team. The Carolina Strut Performing Arts Centre is committed to providing a supportive and inspiring environment for every dancer's artistic journey.

Tap, Ballet and Tumbling combo class

Our 3-5 year old dancers take a 1 hr or 1.5 hour long combo class of Tap, Ballet and Tumbling. These students will begin to learn terminology and how to put steps together in combination. These classes perform a Ballet and Tap dance in our annual spring recital.

Get the Wiggles Out

These dancers are our Get the Wiggles Out students, a class developed by our previous owner Ms. Melanie Marcott. Get the Wiggles Out is designed to not only teach the very basic dance steps, but also body awareness, how to stay on your spot and follow the leader. This is a wonderful introduction to the dance classroom. Get the Wiggles Out students also have the option of performing a recital dance. This class is often imitated but never duplicated, the original is only offered at The Carolina Strut.
