Pointe

Pointe is a specialized discipline that requires strength, technique, and dedication. In Pointe 3, students begin their journey to dancing on pointe, focusing on building the foundational skills needed for this art form. Pointe 4 helps dancers refine their technique and further develop the strength necessary for more advanced work. Mastering pointe demands proper alignment, turnout from the hips, strong ankles, pointed feet, and excellent balance. Classes include targeted exercises at the barre and in the center to enhance the strength of the calf muscles, ankles, and arches while honing control and balance. Each student’s readiness for pointe is evaluated individually, and teacher approval is required before advancing to pointe work. Once approved, students will be guided to a professional fitting for pointe shoes.

Acrobatic Dance

Acro Dance blends dance technique with precise acrobatic elements, creating a dynamic and captivating style. This unique fusion adds acrobatic moves to various dance genres, focusing on fluidity, control, and elegance. From forward rolls to cartwheels to aerial work, we use a progressive curriculum to achieve goals. Unlike gymnastics, Acro Dance emphasizes softer, more balanced movements, with an emphasis on extension and poise. Dancers will perform strength and flexibility exercises, utilize drills to develop proper technique, and learn safe acro skills to blend them with their current dance vocabulary. Instructors work with each student at their own individual level during class. Showcase attendance is mandatory due to the partner work in the dances.

Tap

Tap dance is deeply connected to African American history and showcases its own distinct techniques and movements. This dynamic and rhythmic style of dance is as captivating to listen to as it is to watch. Through a blend of intricate footwork and rhythmic skills, tap dancers create mesmerizing sounds and patterns. Students develop both their mind and body coordination as they master foundational steps and more complex combinations. Tap fosters focus by encouraging dancers to count beats and tune into rhythms. From shuffles and flaps to spanks, this art form builds agility while exploring a range of styles, patterns, and tempos.

Hip Hop

Originating from the streets of the South Bronx in NYC, Hip Hop is all about creativity, individuality, and finding your unique groove! With a variety of styles and moves that are constantly evolving, this genre blends Old School techniques with fresh, modern trends brought to life by innovative dancers. A high-energy and engaging experience, hip hop combines elements of jazz-funk, breakdancing, and street dance. Classes often include level changes, freezes, isolations, and dynamic across-the-floor combinations. As hip hop continues to grow in popularity, it invites dancers from all backgrounds to explore its vibrant, ever-changing culture.

Musical Theatre Dance

Musical Theatre dance combines technique, storytelling, and show-stopping energy to bring Broadway magic to life! In this class, dancers will master proper techniques while exploring the vibrant styles seen in iconic musicals. The spotlight is on more than just the steps—students will dive into the art of performance, learning to captivate an audience by expressing emotions and telling a story through movement, facial expressions, and character work. Get ready to dance, act, and shine like a Broadway star!

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a contemporary style rooted in Jazz, combining ballet technique with heartfelt expression. This form encourages endless creativity, drawing from each dancer’s unique emotions and interpretation. Classes often include improvisation and exercises designed to inspire imagination and storytelling. Dancers learn to convey the emotion and narrative of a song through their movements, blending artistry with technical skill. We recommend pairing Lyrical with Ballet and Jazz classes to build a strong foundation for this expressive dance style.

Jazz

Jazz dance is a versatile and vibrant art form that has evolved over time, drawing its roots from African dance styles. Known for its focus on rhythm, energy, and technique, jazz is a dynamic style that embodies passion and creativity. With movements inspired by the pulse of jazz music, this dance form inspires a sense of freedom and individuality. Classes often highlight isolations of different body parts, center technique for balance and power, across the floor progressions to develop directional changes and weight shifts- while encouraging dancers to develop their unique style. Combining the classic sounds of traditional jazz with contemporary music, jazz dance incorporates flexibility, strength, and control through leaps, turns, and powerful jumps.

Ballet

Ballet is a classical art form with a rich history that traces back over 500 years to Italy. Recognized as the foundation of all dance styles, ballet focuses on technique and precision. Each class is carefully structured, beginning with barre work to build strength, balance, and proper alignment, followed by port de bras, center barre, adagio, and allegro exercises. Students develop the essential skills needed to transition seamlessly from barre to center work, laying the groundwork for mastery in both ballet and other dance forms.
