Tap

Tap classes are available for ages 3 years to adult. Tap is a style of dance that is energetic, fun, and without doubt, an entertaining art form. Students will learn to make various sounds with their shoes to create simple to advanced rhythms. They will develop the art of telling a story with their feet. This class if offered to dancers Ages 5-18 years old. (Younger students are encouraged to take a combo class.)

Pointe

The art of ballet where dancers appear fluid and light, while “en pointe.” The teacher decides when a student is ready, generally around age 12, with a couple of consecutive years of ballet technique. Students are not encouraged to put on pointe shoes until their ankles are strong, have a solid core, and demonstrate good body awareness. The teacher will assess the readiness of the student if they show a desire to go en pointe. Pointe class will teach the student the proper practice of caring for their feet, how to stand correctly in pointe shoes, and the proper placement of their ankles. A student will not be placed in Pointe class if they are physically and mentally not strong enough for this vigorous art form. This is strictly for the safety of the student.

Musical Theatre

Musical theatre classes are available for ages 8 to 18 years. This class offers dancing, acting with dialogue and singing. It is a fun class that is offered to a variety of ages. The class is based off Broadway musicals. This class helps students, particularly the young dancers, to start breaking out of their shell.

Lyrical

Lyrical classes are available for ages 8 to 18 years. This style is a combination of jazz and ballet where the dancers try to convey the meaning of the lyrics in a song. The movements are often more literal, and the movement describes the lyrics. Students are required to take ballet classes to better understand and execute the steps properly. This class is offered for dancer’s 3rd grade and up.

Jazz

Jazz classes are available for ages 5 years to adult. Jazz dance places its foundation in ballet. Jazz involves isolation technique that means training the centers of movement independently from one another. This dance style develops coordination and articulation of body parts such as the head, shoulders, ribcage, arms, pelvis, legs, and feet. This class is offered for dancers ages 5-18.

Hip-Hop

Hip-hop classes are available for ages 5 years to adult. This class is full of up-to-date music combined with rhythmic dance. The kids, age 5-18, will learn musicality and tutting, floor work, and proper isolations from Hip Hop culture. Previous hip-hop dance experience is not required. Particular attention is paid to age-appropriate music and movement.

Age 4/5 Combo Class

All 4-year-olds must have 1 year of previous dance to register for Age 4/5 Combo Class.

First Steps

First Step classes are available for ages 18 months - 36 months. Creative dance is taught in a fun classroom environment. This class focuses on the very young, who are in the early developing stages of their physical, psychological and mental abilities. This class offers age-appropriate music and games that are utilized to encourage learning and the joy of dance. With Parent/Guardian’s help, the students develop fine and gross motor skills, coordination, musicality, mental awareness, and creative thinking skills.

Contemporary

Contemporary classes are available for ages middle school through high school. Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including Modern, Jazz, Lyrical & Ballet. It has elements of artistic expression paired with technique and can often be done to music spanning several genres. This class is offered to dancers in our Middle School/ High School Program.

Ballet

Ballet classes are available for ages 3 years to adult. Ballet is best known for its unique features and techniques, such as turn out of the legs and high extensions. Ballet consists of graceful, flowing, precise movements and body positions. Ballet is an essential foundation for all other disciplines of dance. This class is offered for dancers ages 5-18. (Younger students are encouraged to take a combo class.)

Age 4/5 Ballet, Tap, Acro Combo

Ballet, Tap, Acro Combo classes are available for ages 4 - 5 years Our combination classes are designed to introduce our young dancers to the basic dance forms-ballet, tap, and acrobatics. While learning the basics of each movement, the students develop both fine and gross motor skills, coordination, musicality, mental awareness and creative thinking skills. The classes encourage learning and the joy of dance.

Age 3/4 Ballet, Tap, Acro Combo

Ballet, Tap, Acro Combo classes are available for ages 3 - 4 years Our combination classes are designed to introduce our young dancers to the basic dance forms-ballet, tap, and acrobatics. Age 2/3 Creative Movement

Creative Movement classes are available for ages 2.5 years to 3.5 years. Must be 30 months (2 ½) by Aug. 1st. Creative dance and basic dance skills are taught in a fun classroom environment. This class focuses on the young dancers developing their physical, psychological and mental abilities. This class offers age-appropriate music and games that are utilized to encourage learning and the joy of dance. Classes are designed to help further develop fine and gross motor skills, coordination, musicality, mental awareness and creative thinking skills. Our program includes introductory steps of ballet and tap, as well as basic acrobatics.

Acrobatics

Acrobatic classes are available for ages 5 years to adult. Tumbling helps to gain strength, flexibility, and coordination that will in turn complement dance skills. The student will learn how to do cartwheels, front rolls, handstands, and walkovers, and for the more advanced student, backflips, and handsprings. This class does have the opportunity to do an Acro Demonstration at our End of Year Concert.
