This Half Program offers intensive dance training over 2.5 weeks.

This option is ideal for instructors and chaperones interested in learning new techniques without performing. It includes Modern, Improvisation, and Nontraditional Partnering technique classes, with the option to observe rehearsals.

This class will focus on the fundamentals of dance improvisation, where students will learn structures that Inlet Dance Theatre employs when performing improvisation in front of a live audience. Structures include NEWS, stationary and traveling lines, sculptures, and more.

This class focuses on the foundations of nontraditional partnering, a weight sharing technique where students will be taught: weight into center, weight away from center, morphing, lean becomes lift, and more. They will also explore using this technique to create and develop choreography and may even get to learn sections of Inlet repertoire that feature nontraditional partnering.

Classes instruct students in modern dance, specifically Hawkins-based release technique. Classes begin seated on the floor, progressing to exercises standing in the center and then to movement combinations across the floor. These classes are open to ages 12 and up at all skill levels.

Inlet’s morning Modern Dance Technique classes are open to all who are seeking furtherment in their professional training and class taking abilities.

Receive at least two additional technique classes per week tailored to the program participant needs, ensuring personalized development.

Participate in Hawkins-based release technique class with the Company Members three days per week, enhancing your modern dance training.

Instruction includes American Modern dance, dance composition, improvisation, and other movement styles, providing a comprehensive foundation.

Engage in structured improvisation sessions, developing creative movement generation and responsive performance skills.

Explore Alison Chase/Pilobolus-based nontraditional partnering, a unique and dynamic style integral to the company's movement vocabulary.

This class focuses on Erick Hawkins-based release modern technique, a core component of Inlet Dance Theatre's aesthetic and training.

Collaborative Performance Improvisation is a dance class focused on creating and performing through improvisation in a collaborative setting.

Erick Hawkins Modern Technique is a style of modern dance focusing on release-based principles derived from American Modern Dance.

This Full Program provides extensive dance training over 4.5 weeks.

The Full Program of Inlet's Summer Dance Intensive provides 4.5 weeks of professional dance training, multiple performance opportunities, an Inlet shirt, and costuming.

SDI Jr focuses on creating a supportive community for young dancers ages 6-12, exposing students to the collaborative dance-making process, and increasing technical and performance skills. SDI Jr. will give students the opportunity to make meaningful connections with other students and safely re-engage in small groups, using dance to build empathy. This 1-week in-person camp includes improvisation-based movement games, modern technique, creating new choreography and more! This year will include variations of current and past Inlet works. This camp will culminate with an informal showing for family and friends on Friday.
