This week will help young dancers hone their skills to take on more challenging technique. The only in-person auditions for our Junior Intensive are the auditions in Columbus on January 25 and February 22. Junior Intensive applicants who cannot attend these auditions may submit a headshot + letter of recommendation from a ballet teacher on our DanceApply site beginning December 1.

Learn choreography from today’s top choreographers in a company style format, taught by Rehearsal Directors and BalletMet Company members. There will be an open rehearsal on Friday, July 31.

Students in the 3-Week Intensive will join the first three weeks of the 5-week program. This shortened version allows for more flexibility and all the same benefits apply with the exception of the final performance.

Open classes designed for adults are available.

Various other dance styles are also offered as part of the training program.

Pilates sessions are available for 1 hour per week.

Modern and contemporary dance classes combined are scheduled for 4 hours per week.

Pas de Deux classes are offered once per week for a duration of 1 hour.

BalletMet Dance Academy offers hundreds of classes each year for students ages 3 to 95. We boast state-of-the-art studios, faculty members who have danced with companies around the world and live musical accompaniment in most ballet classes.

Pointe, variations, and repertoire classes are scheduled for 1 hour daily from Monday to Friday.

Male ballet and variations classes are held for 1 hour each day from Monday to Friday.

Ballet technique classes are offered daily from Monday to Saturday, with sessions lasting between 1 hour 30 minutes and 1 hour 45 minutes.

Classes are taught by BalletMet faculty and guests. Students attend classes Monday – Saturday between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM with 35 to 40 hours of training a week. The core curriculum includes technique, variations, pointe for girls, repertoire and supplementary classes in modern, jazz, yoga, flamenco and Pilates. A final performance showing in the BalletMet performance space will take place at the end of the intensive. But it isn’t all work! There will be fun outings around the city for residential students as well.

This intensive will focus on the instruction of pas de deux and partnering technique for ballet and contemporary dance forms. Dancers ages 15-20 years old are welcome in this program. Ladies are required to have advanced pointe technique and men will focus on perfecting their partnering skills. A typical day in the intensive will consist of 1.5 hours of classical ballet technique, ballet pas de deux technique, ballet pas de deux repertoire, and an introduction to contemporary partnering class. Partnering is a fundamental skill which is required in order to become a professional dancer. This intensive will help bring dancers the versatility that dance companies require today.
