About North Royalton Dance Academy

North Royalton Dance Academy (NRDA), located in North Royalton, Ohio, is dedicated to inspiring dancers of all ages and levels. Led by Creative Director and Owner Amy Stauffer, a distinguished instructor with an impressive dance resume throughout Northeast Ohio, NRDA offers a diverse range of dance instruction. The academy fosters a passion for movement and artistic expression, encouraging students to "Dance the Difference." Students can explore a wide array of genuine dance styles including Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Tap, Contemporary, Modern, Ballroom (with specialization in rhumba, salsa, and cha cha), and Salsa. For younger dancers, 'Tiny Dance' and 'Preschool Combo' classes introduce foundational steps and creative development. ACRO/Tumbling classes build strength and flexibility, crucial for many disciplines. The 2025-2026 season begins September 8, 2025, with a tentative recital planned for May 17, 2026. The academy boasts a distinguished faculty including Miss Alexa, Erin Jester (a music therapist specializing in adapted dance), Laine (a professional performer with expertise in Ballroom), Miss Rachel (with a background in music education, choreography, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics training), and Miss Zoey (recognized for award-winning performances). NRDA provides a fun yet structured environment, committed to offering quality dance education and helping students achieve their personal best.

Classes

Adult Jazz
$10.00

This class is designed to have fun in a positive environment with other adult dancers and non-dancers. Ms. Amy teaches all of these classes and you will be hooked. This class is very positive and promotes self-esteem and healthy exercise.

Pointe

Pointe dancing means “dancing on the tips of the toes.” This is made possible by reinforced shoes. It makes the dancers appear weightless. Due to the physical demand it places on the body, we recommend that the dancer be finished growing and developed enough to handle the control needed for pointe.

Lyrical/Modern/Contemporary

This class is designed to help students express their individual feelings and emotions. Encompassing all dance forms with a strong technique emphasis on ballet. Students interpret the words and music through movement. This style of dance is wonderful for body placement, music control, flexibility, and strength. All emphasized with perfect technique.

Tap

This is a percussive type of dance. Its name comes from the tapping sound made when the metal plates on the dances shoes touches a hard surface. Younger students are encouraged to take a combo class.

Ballet

We feel that ballet is the foundation for all dance. This is a class that varies in duration and is offered to students 6 to 18 years old. During the session, we will focus on teaching the basic fundamentals while focusing on correct technique, placement, and control. This class is divided into 6 levels and students are placed by skill level. Younger students are encouraged to take a combination class. Please see combos.

Jazz

Jazz is a style of dance that is structured in technique while taking many shapes and forms. During this class, dancers will learn proper footwork, leaps, and turns while focusing on proper technique. It can be performed to a vast variety of music from broadway to pop.

Hip-Hop

Hip-Hop takes many forms and is continually changing. Age variance may range in these classes. Our sessions provide a high energy class for fast moving dancers. Dancers can learn the latest hip hop moves and techniques while promoting physical fitness and agility. Students will learn a varity of styles including breaking, popping, locking, and krumping. Classes are designed in appropriate age and experince levels.

Combo Level II

In this class, chidren will learn the basic techniques for having a strong foundation in each style of dance. We will focus on ballet, tap, jazz, and tumbling. This class will be offered to dancers with some formal training.

Cheer Dance

This class teaches NRDA cheers and different cheerleading routines to upbeat music. Class is offered to students 3 to 12 years old.

ACRO/Tumbling

Class teaches students fundamental acrobatic and tumbling moves that are performed on gym mats. This class is strictly floor work and does not perform any gymnastics with bars or vault. Sample moves include front & back rolls, headstands, back bends, cartwheels, walkovers, back handsprings, etc. Class format will focus on building core strength and flexibility while acquiring valuable skills that can be easily transferred to dance, cheerleading, and gymnastic routines. These classes will participate in our annual dance recital with a choreography acro routine & costume. Students are encouraged to wear a leotard or tank top with shorts. Bare feet or we will be using acro shoes. No baggy clothes or loose fitting shirts. Bare legs are the best for spotting and correcting tumbling skills. Hair should be pulled back for safety, no jewelry

Preschool Combo

If your child is looking for a class that has it all, then preschool combo is it. This class combines ballet, tap, tumbling, and creative movement, focusing on the basic fundamentals of dance. This class will allow youngsters to have a solid foundation of dance.

Tiny Dance

A unique class that mixes the basic fundamentals of dance (creative movement, ballet, and tumbling). During the class, young children get to sing, use creative movement, develop their motor skills, and increase their spatial awareness while learning to dance.

Mommy and Me

In this class, children will not only experince the excitement of dance but they will also get to share a special time with their mother/caregiver. During the class the children will be able to dance, sing, play games, and increase self-confidence while being introduced to dance with the security of mom.

Jazz, Tap, Tumble

NRDA & CheerZone dance & cheer program offers educational dance, promotes physical fitness, and is tons of fun! Our classes are for boys and girls ages 3 and up and we offer a variety of classes to choose from.
