Classes

MUSICAL THEATRE

Our Musical Theatre class's are geared toward our Broadway lovers. Dancers 3rd grade and up will be introduced to musical theatre dance as seen in movies like Annie, Hairspray, Grease, Cats, and more. This class will focus on learning performance skills that will help connect with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.

LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY

This class gives students the opportunity to experience lyrical dance which combines techniques and skills from ballet and jazz. Students will explore how lyrical dance emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics to tell a story with movement that can fluid or abstract. Students will learn & perform a routine for our end of the year recital.

POINTE

This is for advanced students ONLY. No student will be placed in this class until being evaluated by a ballet instructor to determine if the students muscles and technique are strong enough. Students must also attend regular ballet class.

JAZZ/HIP HOP

Our Jazz program emphasizes body lines which require a high flexible torso, a strong center, and fast accurate footwork. Students will learn basic leaps, turns, jumps, and combinations, developed through Jazz techniques. Hip Hop will be introduced in our jazz classes. Our hip hop classes teach the elements of popping, locking, and breaking, as well as freestyle movement. Hip hop is urban, street diverse, and forever changing. Students will learn & perform a routine at our year end recital.

TAP

Our tap classes will focus on the fundamental foot work and techniques of tap dancing and rhythm, that will include basic steps through advanced combinations. Students will learn & perform a routine at our year end recital.

BALLET

Ballet is the foundation of all types of dancing; because of this we REQUIRE ballet as a pre-requisite for any other type of dance. This class will include terminology, positions, turn out, barre, center, port de bra, and combinations. Students will learn and perform a routine for our end of the year recital.

POM

Pom is a short and sweet 30 min class that combines elements of hip hop, jazz, and cheer technique. Students will perform a dance at the end of the year recital showcasing their skills learned in this class. They will also receive their very own set of pom poms as a part of their recital costume. Pom I is for students enrolled in Rockettes, Taps-n-Twirls, 2nd grade. Pom II is for students enrolled in 3rd grade thru 5th grade & 3rd grade classes.

TAP-N-TWIRLS

The Tap-N-Twirls class is for our First Grade students. It is a 75 minute combo class that teaches and reintroduces the basics of ballet and tap and will also introduce Jazz/Hip Hop. Students will learn techniques in all 3 genres. They will incorporate the techniques they learn in the their recital dances. Students will learn body awareness, proper class room etiquette, musicality and performance skills. Students will perform 3 recital dances at the year end recital.

MINI HIP HOP

This class is for those high energy little ones that are always ready to show off their dance moves! It combines the basics of hip hop (only age appropriate movement and music - we promise!) with basic jazzy moves and groove. Dancers will perform a hip hop dance in the Year-End Show. Students enrolled in Starlettes and Rockettes can take this class.

ROCKETTES

Our Rockettes class is for students ages 5-6. It is a combined ballet and tap class. In this class your child will learn basic tap and ballet technique. They will also learn ballet and tap steps and combinations as well as 2 recital dances. Your child will be able to full understand body awareness, performance skills, rhythm, and musicality in this class.

STARLETTES

Our Starlettes class is for ages 4-5. This class is a 45 minute combined ballet and tap class. This class teaches the basics of tap and ballet technique. Students will learn tap and ballet steps and combinations as well as 2 recital dances. Students will gain understanding of body awareness, performance skills, rhythm, and musicality.

TWINKLE TOES

This class is for our preschool students ages 3-4. They will be introduced to ballet and tap basics. We will focus on creative movement, ballet and tap terminology, body awareness, and rhythm, all while instilling a love for dance through several fun activities that facilitate the dancers own creative expression. They will also learn 2 recital dances.

Princess Ballerinas

Our Princess ballerina class is geared for our tiny dancers ages 2-3years and must be accompanied by an adult. Dancers will enjoy themed classes with each month bringing a different theme, such as "At the Zoo", "Fun at the Fair", "Frozen Forest" just to name a few. Tiny dancers will learn through creative play while developing fine motor skills and boosting self-confidence. They will meet new friends and learn about sharing and teamwork. Dancing will improve muscle strength, flexibility and increase general body awareness. This is a great class to introduce your tiny dancer to the world of dance. This class will start in September 2024 and will go through April 2025. This class does NOT perform in our end of the year recital.
