About Oklahoma Performing Arts - OPA

Oklahoma Performing Arts (OPA), located in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, is a nonprofit arts education program founded in 1996, dedicated to nurturing character and artistic development in youth aged 3 to 19. OPA offers a comprehensive classical arts education emphasizing discipline, creativity, and personal growth, alongside community outreach programs like H.A.P.P.Y. and iExperience. Students receive robust training in a variety of dance styles including ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, and acrobatics, complemented by music, voice, and acting. The curriculum fosters essential life skills such as focus, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and teamwork in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Specialized programs include the Allenato company model for intensive technical training and the Allenato Prelim Bridge program for advanced students, preparing them for professional arts standards. The LUEY program offers a vibrant theatre experience to community members of all ages. Dedicated artist instructors, including Ms. Megan and Ms. V, draw upon extensive training and performance experience to meet students at their individual level, advocating for accessible arts education. OPA's mission, 'Creatively Growing Character,' cultivates confident, capable, and compassionate individuals through immersive educational experiences and opportunities for public performance.

dance

We moved to the area this past year and were referred to OPA as our daughter is serious about dance. We had never done voice or acting . . . It quickly became evident that the program was very advanced and well suited for our family.

ballet

My 4-year daughter has been taking dance from OPA for about 6 months. She has learned more than I could have imagined during that time. During a recent gymnastics class at another location, her instructor commented on Avery’s poise and talent- and said it must come from her ballet instruction!

dance

Oklahoma Performing Arts students learn more than how to dance, sing or perform onstage. They also develop strong problem solving, time-management, goal setting and social skills.

Dance Classes

Sierra began dancing at a young age in their hometown of Denton, TX, and continued through college, earning a BA in Dance Performance from Oral Robert’s University. Sierra is passionate about teaching and sharing their love for dance and the arts to as many people as possible. To continue to spread this passion, Sierra is working with the Oklahoma State Dept. of Education in their Art-Tech Grant, which helps bring arts education to schools in which arts classes are not provided. Sierra teaches dance classes to over 500 Pre-K students in the Broken Arrow Public School System. Sierra hopes to help form individuals empowered with the benefits of arts education.

Ballet, Jazz, and Modern Dance Techniques

Megan is now a company member with Wildly Brave, a non-profit dance company based in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and performs with them several times a year. Megan is delighted to be a movement teacher at Oklahoma Performing Arts teaching ballet, jazz, and modern techniques. She hopes she can instill the same passion for the arts that she received as a former student with OPA.

Founded in 1996, Oklahoma Performing Arts offers developmentally sensitive programs for children ages three to 19 featuring ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, music, voice, acting, and technical theater, as well as public performances in diverse theatrical genres. Unlike many other arts organizations that serve youth, Oklahoma Performing Arts teaches more than just how to dance, sing, or perform onstage. Through the vehicle of performing arts, students develop the emotional intelligence, tenacity, and grit they need to truly succeed in life.

Dance

We moved to the area this past year and were referred to OPA as our daughter is serious about dance. We had never done voice or acting . . . It quickly became evident that the program was very advanced and well suited for our family. It impresses me how quickly the children progress. My daughter was behind others her age, but was given the attention and instruction to catch up and thrive! It is a true testament to the fact that if you expect something out of a child, they WILL rise to meet the goals! Also, the family atmosphere made our move and integration into a new community much easier. We love it so much that our son recently started in the program.

Ballet

My 4-year daughter has been taking dance from OPA for about 6 months. She has learned more than I could have imagined during that time. During a recent gymnastics class at another location, her instructor commented on Avery’s poise and talent- and said it must come from her ballet instruction! The children are challenged to do more than expected and they DO! During the holidays, the students performed at various nursing homes in the area. It was so much fun to see the JOY on the faces of the residents watching the children perform. The children interact with the residents following the nursing homes and its mutually beneficial!!
