Private Lessons
$65.00

Private lessons are available for all ages. Appointments are scheduled online, but must be set up by emailing [email protected] . The cost is $65 for a 45-minute session. Solos, duets, and trios must schedule a minimum of 6 lessons and pay a music and choreography fee in addition to 6 private lessons. Only choreography from Sherri’s Dance Center will be allowed during Sherri's Dance Center performances. Dancers missing appointments without 24-hour notice will be charged full private lesson price.

Musical Theatre

The 55 minute musical theatre class will focus on learning proper technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. Emphasis will also be placed on learning acting and performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling stories.

6/7 Acro (GRADES 6-12)

Acro is a style of dance that focuses on tricks and gymnastic movement popular in dance today. Acro dance will provide more depth and variety of tricks for dancers by focusing on strength and flexibility in a safe environment. Students will work on a variety of skills such as handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, handsprings and aeriels. This class will not perform at recital, and is a skills only class.

Level 7 Advanced hip Hop (Grades 11-12)

Hip Hop Dance is an exciting style of movement characterized by bounces and rocks executed to Hip Hop music. Tapping instills the use of rhythm and counting and encourages dance style and how to differentiate sounds. Students gain experience in a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm Tap. Younger students will learn to count musical phrases as well as gain an understanding of the importance of keeping together as a class. As the dancer progresses, challenging combinations for tap dancers further improve coordination, foot and ankle flexibility, and speed. Tap also enhances the dancer's performance, poise, and personality.

Level 6/7 Pointe (Grades 9-12)

Ballet technique taught at Sherri's Dance Center is a combination of Italian Cecchetti and Russian Vaganova technique. Emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and the use of arms (port de bras). Class begins with work at the barre to build strength and coordination, followed by center exercises, culminating in a grand allegro combinations or variations. Clear explanations of exercises and theory help students use the ballet vocabulary in a simple, practical way that leads to increased technical understanding, healthy physical development, and lifelong enjoyment. Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is now being incorporated in ballet classes. PBT is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students' technique by focusing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance. It is a unique training system using ballet-technique specific exercises to train skill acquisition in a graded and progressive manner from junior through to advanced levels. Students with strong ballet technique, sufficient core and ankle strength, and a teacher's recommendation go on to study 'en pointe'. We do not encourage pointe work until the student has accomplished an advanced technical level. Proper development and physical maturity of the student will determine the ability for pointe shoes. Class placement is determined by the instructor.

Pom is a type of dance that incorporates typical cheerleading movements with jazz technique. Dancers will work on balance, precision, team synchronization, strength, and flexibility. B ecause pom combines so many styles of cheer and dance, students will become skilled in body placement, isolations, contractions, leaps, turns and dance combinations.

Level 5 Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip Hop dance requires students to have strength & stamina. Level 6 Flat Ballet

55 minute class where students will focus on building the strength, flexibility and control needed to execute proper Ballet technique. Ballet technique taught at Sherri's Dance Center is a combination of Italian Cecchetti and Russian Vaganova technique. Emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and the use of arms (port de bras). Class begins with work at the barre to build strength and coordination, followed by center exercises, culminating in a grand allegro combinations or variations. Clear explanations of exercises and theory help students use the ballet vocabulary in a simple, practical way that leads to increased technical understanding, healthy physical development, and lifelong enjoyment.

55 minute combination class where students will focus on building the strength, flexibility and control needed to execute Ballet & Contemporary technique. Each class will emphasize barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations for the ballet portion of class. For contemporary, the dancer is taught to interpret his or her movement with feeling, emotion, and style.

This class focuses on basic tumbling and dance skills to develop strength, coordination, timing, and flexibility. Beginning acro technique and basic vocabulary are introduced. This class will not perform, and is a skills only class.

55 minute combination class. Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of Tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm Tap. Exercises will focus on building flexibility of the knees and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The Jazz portion of class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns.

Hip Hop is a 55 minute class that is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip Hop dance requires students to have strength & stamina. Therefore, class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as rigorous warm up to help students prepare for more intense movement.

Private lessons to learn solos, duets, trios, and small group dances for competition and recital are available for the level 4 and up. Appointments must be made in advance by emailing [email protected] only and paid through the dance studio. Only choreography from Sherri’s Dance Center will be allowed to perform during any performances. The cost is $55.00 for a 45-minute session with a minimum of 6 lessons; add 10.00 per dancer per lesson for a group routine. Dancers and the parents are required to sign a 6 lesson contract and pay for lessons at that time. Dancers missing appointments without 24-hour notice will be charged full private lesson price .
