Moonlite Dance Studio, the newest dance studio in Pryor, Oklahoma, opened its doors in 2023, bringing a wealth of experience from its passionate instructors. Dedicated to fostering a love for dance, music, and the performing arts, Moonlite offers a diverse range of classes for ages three and up. Students can explore a comprehensive curriculum that includes Ballet, Ballet Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Hip Hop, Pom, and Tumbling. For younger dancers aged 3-6, engaging Combination Classes blend Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, building a strong foundation. Dancers aged 7 and up can delve deeper into core technique, strength, and flexibility through Specialty Classes, with many requiring concurrent Ballet enrollment. Dedicated instruction in Ballet Technique, with Pointe and Pre-Pointe options, is available for experienced students. Jazz classes focus on isolations and progressions, while Lyrical and Contemporary styles emphasize emotional expression. Modern dance explores expressive body movements, and energetic Hip Hop classes feature upbeat music. Acro/Tumbling classes combine artistic, acrobatic, and tumbling skills in a fun, competitive environment. Classes

Ages 7 and up are welcome to join any specialty that are available; Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip hop, Pom, and Tumbling. (Ballet is a requirement for all other class except Tap, Tumbling, Pom, and Hip hop)

Acro / Tumbling

A sport that combines skill sets currently practiced in artistic, acrobatic, and power tumbling into a fun, competitive team environment. Our tumbling classes are for beginners to advanced levels. Our tumbling program is great for all types of learners allowing students to progress through classes and levels at their own pace.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is an upbeat style of dance that utilizes body isolations, core control, and current dance movements to express emotion through age-appropriate popular music. Our hip hop classes are for both classical and competitive dancers. These classes are full of funky, fast paced dance moves and choreography. All classes are taught with clean music and appropriate dance moves while still learning this popular style. Clean street shoes are required.

Tap

Tap technique focusing on rhythms.

Modern

Modern dance employs a special technique for developing the use of the entire body in movements expressive of abstract ideas. It is characterized by body movements and rhythms less formalized than classical ballet, and seeks to discover new ways of using music and sound in relation to movement. It is a requirement to take an equal level ballet class in order to take a leveled Modern class.

Lyrical/ Contemporary

Lyrical is a slow, expressive type of dance that incorporates ballet technique. This dance style’s main goal is to interpret the lyrics of the song through movement. Students are taught that a lyrical dancer is to use gesture, facial expression, and controlled movements in order to execute their movements and emotions. Contemporary dance is a dance style that rejects many of the strict rules of classical ballet but while maintaining a ballet base, while focusing on the expression of inner feelings, emphasizing creativity in choreography and performance. Half sole dance shoes are required. It is a requirement to take an equal level ballet class in order to take a leveled lyrical/contemporary class.

Jazz

Jazz dance is an umbrella term that can refer to several related modern dance styles. It encompasses isolations of the body, core development, and progressions towards a new style of movement. Black jazz shoes are required. It is a requirement to take an equal level ballet class in order to take a leveled jazz class.

Pointe and Pre-Pointe

Pre-pointe class offers continuing ballet technique as well as pointe readiness training. This class focuses on body alignment and strengthening of the feet, ankles and legs. The first 2 months are spent in soft shoes as proper evaluations are made for pointe readiness. Beginning pointe work begins at the barre only for stability and safety purposes. This barre work will continue through the year and then basic center pointe work will begin. To qualify for the class, students must be at least 11 years of age, have a minimum of three years of ballet experience, and have attained suitable strength and technique. Pink flat ballet shoes and point shoes are required. A Ballet class is required to take most other specialty class.

Ballet Technique

Class for ages 7 and up. Previous dance experience recommended but not required. In the first 2 levels of ballet technique class, the five basic positions are introduced and the foundations of ballet are established. Basic terminology, placement, flexibility exercises, and muscle conditioning work are taught. Advancement is based on teacher recommendation, age, or both. Pink flat ballet shoes are required. A Ballet class is required to take most other specialty class.

Combination Classes

Combinations Ballet, Tap, and Jazz for ages 3-4 and 5-6 year olds. No previous experience required. Students need pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes.
