Competitive Classes

Competitive classes are available for dancers on Elite’s Competition Team and those wishing to be challenged by a more rigorous dance curriculum. We offer premier Pom classes in Tulsa. Pom instruction will cover the motions and technique needed for all levels of Pom teams: middle school, JV, and Varsity. The instruction will be differentiated for dancers depending on the team they are on currently/will be trying out for.

Ballroom Dancing Tulsa

We offer premier Ballroom dancing classes in Tulsa. Ballroom dance instruction centers around partner dancing. Standard moves involve the waltz, tango, and foxtrot, and Latin moves include the samba, cha-cha, and rhumba. This style of dance teaches dancers accountability and how to rely on one’s dance partner. Heeled shoes may be required for female dancers.

Hip Hop

We offer premier Hip Hop classes in Tulsa. Hip Hop classes will provide dancers the opportunity to learn fast-paced, challenging routines in a fun, inspirational atmosphere. The hip hop genre is ever-evolving, so the class curriculum will be fluid as well. Dancers will be asked to wear sensible/comfortable shoes and clothing. These classes are filled with style and swag!

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre instruction will focus on a number of dance styles often seen in musical theatre performances. Various soft-shoe dancing and theatrical styles will be taught. Dancers will learn how to project, perform, and command a stage using their facial expressions and whole bodies.

ACRO 3

In ACRO 3, dancers are expected to have a backbend kick-over, front limber (handstand to a backbend-recover), and cartwheel. Dancers learn tumbling skills such as aerials, back walkovers, and back handsprings. Partner movements are also included.

ACRO 2

In ACRO 2, dancers with a basic knowledge of acrobatics focus on developing fundamental acrobatic technique, such as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, backbends, walkovers, and balance and contortion tricks. This class is great for students with a lot of energy to burn!

ACRO 1

In ACRO 1, dancers learn basic acrobatic skills, develop motor coordination, and practice appropriate class procedures.

Jazz

instruction will focus on the modern jazz style. Dancers enrolled in these classes will learn high-energy sequences while sharpening their jazz technique.

Tap

Through tap instruction, dancers will learn the importance of musicality and rhythm. Dancers will gain an “ear” for tap, which stands in stark contrast to other, more quiet dance genres. Traditional tap shoes are required for these classes.

Contemporary

instruction will blend technique and movements from a variety of dance genres (ballet, modern, etc.) to teach dancers how to move in a range of ways, whether the movements be fluid or staccato. Dancers may learn and perform routines barefooted or in contemporary dance soles. Dancers will learn to project emotion and tell a story through this expressive dance genre.

Ballet

Dancers enrolled in ballet classes will learn technique associated with the Vaganova Ballet Academy of Russia. Around the age of 12, if strong enough, dancers will have the chance to begin pointe instruction. Traditional ballet wear (black leotard, tights, shoes) is required.
