Chitwood Studio of Dance, nestled in downtown Roseburg, Oregon, has been a cornerstone of the local arts community for over 50 years, proudly serving southern Oregon. Founded in 1969 by Miss Chitwood, who brings a wealth of experience from training at the prestigious School of American Ballet in New York City, the studio offers a diverse range of dance education for students aged 7 through adult. Emphasis is placed on classical instruction in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz. A strong focus on ballet is required for school-aged performers wishing to participate in performances, with additional instruction available in tap and jazz. Students of all ages and skill levels experience the joy of dance in a nurturing environment, fostering technique and passion. Chitwood Studio of Dance provides a supportive atmosphere where valuable life lessons such as strength, courage, teamwork, and hard work are cultivated alongside artistry and dedication. Students have the opportunity to showcase their progress in an annual End-of-the-Year Recital held each June, with more advanced students performing at events like the Umpqua Valley Arts Festival. The studio also offers flexible pricing, monthly rates, single class options, and private lessons for personalized instruction. Dancers are involved in the creation and rental of costumes for performances, fostering community and ownership. Lessons continue until August, ensuring continuous growth throughout the year.
