Jazz dance is another blended genre of dance, utilizing the fundamentals of ballet & modern while simultaneously revealing forms of folk, funk, and African dance. It requires the dancer to perform unique movement, big turns, leaps, and fancy footwork. Although there are several variations to jazz dance, many associate jazz with Broadway ! Regardless of which style you use, jazz brings the dancer to life and allows them to reveal their true inner self while on stage! Join us for jazz this year!

postmodern and contemporary dance

With a desire to break free from the traditional structure of ballet, this form of dance was developed as a rebellion against the norm. Merce Cunningham , who is known to many as, “The founding father of postmodern and contemporary dance” has said that music and dance should not directly coordinate, but should be able to share space and time.
