Classes

Adult Classes

An all adult class offered in 4 different styles (Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Hip Hop). BOYS TUMBLING

An all boys class that will work on tumbling, developing flexibility, strength, and control. Mini trampoline, incline, and floor mats will be used.

HIP HOP

Hip hop dancing is considered a good exercise with tight crisp moves delivered with style and attitude. It helps the dancers to improve flexibility, to develop body balance, and to coordinate the muscles. The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music. There is breaking, popping, locking, and free styling in hip hop dances. It combines jumps, breaks, and rotations in such a way that the dance style becomes informal and explosive.

ACROBATIC TUMBLING

Classes will concentrate on fundamentals of tumbling, developing flexibility, strength and control. Goals will be set for each child on an individual basis in order to develop progress and good self-esteem. Beginner to beginner/intermediate level class - for those students who have little or no experience to those who have had some but have not mastered basic skills such as splits, back bends, cartwheels, and basic acrobatic skills. Mini tramp, incline and floor mats will be used. Intermediate level class - for those students who have accomplished such skills as splits, cartwheels, back bends, limbers and walkovers. Students will be learning skills to begin handspring and aerial tumbling. Students who have mastered the skills above should be concentrating on developing their handspring and aerial work.

LYRICAL

Lyrical is easily described as interpretive movement. It is a free flowing form of contemporary ballet combined with modern jazz technique. Usually performed with lyrics, this dance conveys a message and feeling through movement. You must have had at least three years of ballet and jazz and currently enrolled in a ballet and jazz class. NOTE: This form of dance is relatively new in form but has been used in various ways throughout the history of dance. While still developing good body form, lyrical also develops the inner self by being able to express feelings through dance.

MODERN

A natural form of dance that emphasizes the release and control of the entire body. Modern dance involves unique movements that deal with the abstract world we live in. You must have had at least three years of ballet, three years of jazz, one year of lyrical and currently enrolled in a ballet and jazz class and an open mind.

POINTE

This class is for advanced ballet dancers with a strong foundation in ballet. Dancers must have at least three years of ballet training. A teacher's approval is required for this class.

BALLET TECH

Focus will be on the dancers full knowledge of proper body placement and refining of ballet techniques. The class also places emphasis on developing balance, strength, and stamina with classical movements.

BALLET II

Students should have a basic knowledge of ballet fundamentals, which include body placement, ballet terms, barre and center technique. The class combines both Cechetti and Russian techniques. NOTE: Both Ballet I and Ballet II produce a basic foundation for development of a strong body for all forms of dance and acrobatics. Students who are very interested should develop a strong ballet foundation to enhance their technique in movement. Poise, gracefulness, control, and coordination are developed as well as the love and respect of a beautiful art form.

BALLET I

Proper body placement, ballet terms, barre, center, and across floor techniques are all emphasized in this class. Students who are just beginning or those who have studied ballet but have not learned the skills mentioned would be perfect for participation.

JAZZ

A fast-paced dance class which includes choreographed warm-ups and styles that range from today's popular dance to Broadway such as isolations, kicks, hip-hop, etc. NOTE: Tap and Jazz classes are wonderful for those children with lots of energy and are looking for ways to use the energy wisely. A great way to learn coordination and rhythm!

TAP

Class includes skills in tap technique including rhythm, dance combinations, syncopation, etc. NOTE: Tap and Jazz classes are wonderful for those children with lots of energy and are looking for ways to use the energy wisely. A great way to learn coordination and rhythm!

KINDER-DANCE

Class will begin with tap skills that teach rhythm and coordination by incorporating basic tap technique. Dance will consist of pre-ballet skills — motor movement, stretches, basic ballet technique. Tumbling portion of class concentrates on fundamentals of acrobatic tumbling (flexibility, strength, control) which includes somersaults, handstands, bridges, etc. NOTE: This is a great introductory class for students to learn basic form of dance and tumbling. Individual goals are set to develop self-esteem in all children and build confidence.

FUN-DAMENTAL MOVEMENT

Movements include developing basic motor skills (hopping, skipping, jumping, sliding, etc.). Emphasizes FUN DANCE! Students learn song and dance routines which develop positive self-image. Class also includes tumbling with the use of inclines, octagons, mini-tramps and floor mats. Great beginning class to develop a love for movement while learning to interact with other children. Great class for both boys and girls.
