Classes

Pointe

Pointe work is an advanced ballet technique where dancers rise onto the tips of their toes, requiring significant strength, balance, and specialized training. It is often featured in classical ballet performances.

Hip Hop

Hip hop dance is a vibrant and energetic street dance style characterized by its improvisational nature, athletic movements, and connection to hip hop music culture. It encompasses various sub-styles and emphasizes rhythm and groove.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a highly versatile and expressive genre that draws upon ballet, jazz, modern, and lyrical techniques. It emphasizes fluidity, improvisation, floor work, and emotional expression.

Tap

Tap dance is a percussive form of dance where dancers wear shoes fitted with metal taps. The sound created by the taps striking the floor is an integral part of the dance, emphasizing rhythm and intricate footwork.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance combines elements of ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance to interpret music and lyrics. It focuses on expressive movements and storytelling, conveying emotion through fluid and graceful choreography.

Jazz

Jazz dance is a dynamic and energetic style characterized by syncopation, improvisation, and isolations. It draws from African American vernacular dance and has evolved to include a wide range of contemporary influences.

Ballet

Ballet is a foundational dance style that emphasizes grace, precision, and technical execution. It involves specific postures, movements, and sequences that build strength, flexibility, and artistry.

Pom

This sharp and energetic style is set to fast-paced music with pom poms. Our dancers will use skills from other styles such as jazz and hip hop and build upon them. Many dancers use this as a training course for collegiate teams or other professional dance/cheer opportunities.

Tiny Tumblers

Tumbling is a form of gymnastics performed without props or equipment. Young dancers work on tumbling skills for increased coordination and locomotor skills. Common moves performed in tumbling include flips, somersaults, cartwheels, and handstands.

Acro

Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context.

Musical Theatre

Musical theatre dancing is less of a particular style, and more of a description of dancing that is rooted in the diverse history of Broadway musicals. Relying heavily on a knowledge of ballet, tap, and jazz, musical theater dancers are, first and foremost, actors and place a high focus on musical interpretation.

Hip Hop

Hip hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of the music.

Tap

This rhythmic style of dance is always a favorite. Our dancers will learn about musicality, rhythm, endurance and percussion while having fun making sounds. This fast and entertaining style is fun for dancers and audiences alike.

Jazz

Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. A fun and upbeat class to get you movin' and groovin'!

Pointe

This class is intended for those dancers who have shown adequate physical strength, accurate technique, and necessary mental awareness to go en pointe. Dancers must be recommended for pointe by their instructor. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. This class focuses on foot/ankle strengthening exercises. Students will learn and practice pointe at the barre with heavy emphasis on correct foot and body alignment. A slow and careful approach is used to ensure a safe and solid foundation en pointe. Dancers must be enrolled in a ballet class in addition to pointe.

Ballet II

Dancers who already have a thorough knowledge of elementary ballet start to establish a strong technical foundation and begin to explore more advanced movement and concepts. Proper technique is taught through a full ballet class, but emphasis is also placed on musicality, projection and performance quality, and artistic expression. Dancers may begin pointe class with the permission of the instructor.

Ballet I

This class begins to transition young dancers into the full structure of a standard ballet class with increased exercises and vocabulary. The focus of this class is to create good technical habits while building strength, flexibility, and body coordination. Emphasis is also placed on performance quality and learning how to project with artistic expression.

Advanced Beginner Ballet

Dancers begin to move through the rudimentary structure of a standard ballet class, including barre and center practice, while further expanding their knowledge of movement and terminology. Students are introduced to basic ballet technique, including turn-out and posture, while building confidence and learning elementary performance skills.

Little Stars Ballet

This class allows girls and boys to be introduced to dance through the use of imagery, stories, and movement games. This class is designed to address the child’s developmental needs while stimulating their imagination and introducing them to musicality, basic ballet skills, and locomotor skills. Children also focus on learning to follow directions and dance as part of a group.

dance classes

Dance classes teach children about music, rhythm and beat. Students also have a better understanding of spatial relationships and learn to think with both sides of their brain. All these skills enhance a child’s academic performance, as well as their physical well-being.
