KST's Alloy Studios, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a vibrant hub for artistic exploration and community engagement. Rooted in the legacy of Pittsburgh natives Gene Kelly and Billy Strayhorn, the studio champions bold, innovative artistry with a global perspective. Since its founding over 20 years ago, KST has significantly impacted the contemporary arts and community, fostering creative experimentation, dialogue, and action, particularly for Black, Indigenous, people of color, and queer voices, while welcoming all who uplift these communities. Alloy Studios offers a diverse range of dance disciplines, including Ballet, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, and West African dance (through dedicated Balafon Dance Classes). Students can also engage with Balafon Music Classes, fostering collective rhythm. The studio provides a welcoming environment for all levels, with drop-in classes and a comprehensive schedule. Featured instructors like Anna Thompson (pre-ballet, modern, jazz), Joy-Marie Thompson (ballet, jazz for young children), Bill Shannon (interdisciplinary, street culture), and Jasmine Hearn (post-modern dance, intergenerational dialogue) bring extensive experience. The studio also hosts notable programs and workshops such as "Workshop with Freshworks Artist Lucy Chen" (Classical Chinese dance basics with modern styles), Maria Caruso’s Bodiography Presents: Arcadia (contemporary dance), and Jasmine Hearn's "Spectrum of Strength." KST's Alloy Studios is dedicated to providing a platform for artistic growth and expression, including youth programs like "theatriQ," a queer and Trans youth ensemble.
