West Chester Dance Works, also known as the Diane Matthews School of Dance Arts, is a premier dance education studio located in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Founded by the esteemed Diane Matthews, a respected figure with extensive training and performance experience, the studio fosters a passion for the arts in students of all ages, from preschoolers as young as 3.5 to adults 18 and over. Our comprehensive curriculum spans a rich tapestry of styles including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Predance (incorporating ballet, tumbling, and creative expression), and Hippity Hop (age-appropriate hip hop). We offer specialized classes such as adult Vagonova technique and barre work, dedicated Open Ballet classes for older students and adults, and an Adult Sampler class featuring rotating Jazz, Modern, and Lyrical styles. Our talented instructors, including Candace Matthews-Bass, Ashanti Meaux, Shareese Asparagus, Samantha Brun, Kelly Butterworth-Dhamo, Antoinette M. Coward-Gilmore, Audrey Hammitt, Lauren Linder, Adrianna “Nikki” Matthews, Adam Nsereko, and Kacei Womack, bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from professional careers and advanced degrees. West Chester Dance Works is also home to performance companies like the "DM Dance Machine" and "Annointed Too," providing invaluable performance opportunities. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit entity, we are deeply committed to community engagement, accessibility, and inspiring the next generation through programs like "Try-A-Class For Free" month and outreach initiatives.
