About Arts Academy of the Carolinas

Arts Academy of the Carolinas, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, offers a comprehensive and nurturing dance education for students of all ages, from toddlers as young as two to advanced performers. Our diverse curriculum encompasses a wide array of popular genres, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical/Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Musical Theater. For those interested in the exciting fusion of dance and acrobatics, we also provide dedicated Acro/Tumbling classes. Our programming is thoughtfully designed to cater to specific age groups, with "Itty Bitty" classes for ages 2-3, specialized "Pre-Dance" and "5-7 Year Old Dance Classes," and advanced opportunities including Pointe classes for students aged 12 and up. The academy is proud to feature a dedicated "Company" program, offering serious young dancers performance opportunities and potential competitive team involvement. Our experienced and skilled faculty are committed to fostering talent and artistic growth. Instructors include Ms. LeAna, specializing in Ballet/Lyrical; Ms. Michelle, leading Hip Hop; Ms. Emily, teaching Tap/Jazz; and Ms. Lauren, guiding Musical Theater. Ms. Anna and Ms. Gracie also contribute their expertise to various age brackets. The studio emphasizes proper technique and progression, supported by specific dress codes and class structures. Arts Academy of the Carolinas also presents opportunities through summer programs and annual recitals, creating a vibrant and supportive dance community. Registration for our 2025-2026 schedule is currently open, inviting new students to join our passionate dance family.

All Musical Theater classes involve singing, dancing, and acting with a heavy emphasis on singing. Musical Theater students will perform in an informal Holiday recital as well as the regular spring recital.

This class is for students aged 5-7 and focuses on developing strength, flexibility, and tumbling skills. Attire includes a leotard or fitted tank with cheerleading shorts or dance shorts. No tights unless a student has back-to-back classes, in which case convertible tights may be worn. Students may also wear a sports bra top and shorts. Students in tumbling will go barefoot. Hair should be pulled up or clipped back out of the face.

This class is designed for students aged 5-7 years old and focuses on developing rhythm, coordination, and energetic movement. Preferred attire includes sweatpants, t-shirts, and tank tops; leotard and tights should not be worn. Sneakers/tennis shoes such as Keds, Vans, Converses, Nike, Adidas, New Balance, or Acer are required. These should be shoes not worn outside. Hair is to be pulled back out of the face.
