About Prima School of Dancing

Prima School of Dancing, located in Rapid City, South Dakota, offers a comprehensive dance education for individuals of all ages, from three years old through adulthood. With a highly experienced and dedicated faculty boasting over 175 combined years of teaching expertise, Prima is committed to providing top-tier instruction in a positive and supportive environment. The studio features four spacious dance floors and a dedicated rehearsal studio with sprung floors for dancer safety. Prima offers a wide array of dance styles, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Modern, Salsa, and Ballroom. The curriculum is structured with age-appropriate classes, ensuring a progressive learning experience. Led by Studio Director Christy Remington (over 30 years experience, ABT® certified), Company Director Tricia Baltzer, Operations Manager Shawna Robbennolt (BFA in Ballet), Curriculum Coordinator Rachel Harris, and instructors Laura Lisnik, Nicci DeMarce, and Nikki Work, the faculty is dedicated to fostering technical skill and a love for dance. Students can engage through regular classes, performance groups like Training Group (kindergarten to high school seniors), and competitive teams called Prima Company (auditioned dancers aged 7-18 competing at local and regional levels). Special programs include auditioned Competition Dance Teams and Prima Company. Fall classes commence in September, culminating in an annual May recital, with special summer programs also available. Prima School of Dancing also hosts birthday parties and provides detailed tuition plans and important dates, preparing students for events like Prima's Fall Show and the annual Recital at the Monument.
