Living Art Dance Studios

In this class, students will be learning soft shoe and hornpipe shoe (hard shoe) styles of dance.

This contemporary dance technique explores the balance between contraction and release, tension, personal expression and use of breath.

This advanced ballet class incorporates other ballet styles, e.g. the Vaganova method and the Royal Academy of Dance method, to develop a more comprehensive understanding of ballet. This class will fuse Italian, French, Danish, and Russian styles of ballet to involve the whole body and create harmony of movement and greater expressive range.

Pointe dancing is available as part of our advanced curriculum. Students will be placed on pointe shoes at the discretion of the teacher and must be enrolled in a minimum of two classes per week.

Musical Theatre utilizes ballet, tap and jazz steps. As part of our curriculum, students will be able to explore classical Broadway and movie musical styles of dance. Musical Theatre is incorporated as part of the students’ jazz class and is included in their jazz class tuition.

Classical Jazz technique is the main emphasis along with todays current styles.

Tap classes develop rhythm, quick foot work, balance and transference of weight and stress the importance of cooperation.

All students must enroll in ballet Living Art Dance Studio is affiliated with the Cecchetti Council of America. The CCA is dedicated to maintaining the standards and method of classical ballet training established by Cavalier Enrico Cecchetti. Cecchetti training is a rigorous method which pays careful attention to the laws of anatomy. It develops all of the qualities essential to the dancer: balance, poise, strength, spring/bounce, elevation, and elasticity. It is classic in its purity and clear-cut style. Cecchetti examiners are in the studio once a year to certify student candidates through examination.

These classes continue pre-school dance development. In addition, musicality and dance coordination are taught in preparation for classical ballet. Tap dancing is included in the 1st and 2nd grades. Recital dances will be a combination of classical ballet steps and musical theatre style choreography.

This class creates an interest in dance, helps develop rhythm, encourages cooperation and improves motor skills.

All Musical Theatre dances will be taught to the 7th Grade through 12th Grades beginning in January. No additional cost for the class but students will be purchasing a costume.

This non-Cecchetti ballet class is an advanced syllabus, sur le pointe, to challenge the techniques of the devoted student.

Pointe students will be placed on pointe shoes at the discretion of the teacher. Toe or pointe dancing is available as part of our advanced curriculum. Pointe students must be enrolled in a minimum of two classes per week.
