East Tennessee Ballet Academy

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is a program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon to help students advance in all dance forms by training muscle memory. PBT focuses on core stability, weight placement and alignment. Training with a focus on the safe progression of ballet technique is very important to us.East Tennessee Ballet Academy offers PBT conditioning to children attending PreBallet through Advanced Classes as well as Adult Classes. In addition to PBT floor barres are also incorporated into ballet classes.

TAP students will be introduced to solid basic level of techniques (shuffles. flaps, cramp rolls, Irish, shuffle ball change, etc.) and basic fundamental music skills are introduced as well.

A perfect addition to the Storybook Ballet, Tap in Tempo is a fun half hour of tapping, clapping and moving with the music. Tap in Tempo classes are designed to develop rhythm, good listening skills, proper posture and coordination, student s will love hearing their feet sing and dancing to familiar son gs.

Storybook Ballet & Tap is designed for children aged 2 1/2 to 3 years, offering a fun introduction to the world of classical ballet. This class fosters imagination through classical music, creative movement, and ballet elements.

Beginning Advanced & Advanced Ballet classes encompass technique, pointe, variations, contemporary, and partnering. These classes are designed for highly skilled dancers to further develop their classical ballet technique and artistry.

Intermediate & Advanced Intermediate Ballet classes include technique, pointe, variations, contemporary, and partnering. Students refine classical ballet technique, develop artistry, and explore diverse dance styles.

Beginning Intermediate Ballet classes focus on barre work, classical ballet technique, proper alignment, technical strengthening, complex coordination exercises, musicality, and movement quality. Artistry and pre-pointe work are emphasized.

Beginning Ballet Technique classes for ages 7 and up focus on foundational ballet techniques, proper alignment, technical strengthening, coordination exercises, and musicality. Students develop artistry and movement quality.

Adult Ballet classes are offered for individuals looking to engage in ballet training. These classes focus on fundamental ballet techniques and artistry for adult participants.

Ballet Basics & Tap classes are for children aged 6 years who have completed a year of Pre Ballet. This class refines the curriculum with a focus on strengthening, stretching, balance, coordination, and musicality, introducing barre work and classical ballet technique.

Pre Ballet & Tap classes are for children aged 4-6 years, introducing them to the fundamentals of ballet, including body alignment, leg stretching, foot articulation, and coordination exercises. Musicality, French vocabulary, and the history of classical ballet are emphasized.
