Knox Dance Worx

This popular, energetic form of dance allows dancers to perform with freedom of movement, adding in their own personalities. This class is inspired by today’s latest music and hippest trends in dance. Age appropriate hip hop music and movement is used for each class.

A classical form of dance focusing on proper body alignment and fluid movement. Barre, center floor, and across the floor progressions are all used to develop proper ballet technique. Ballet is the foundation upon which most dance forms are based.

One of the most traditional forms of dance using special shoes to create different rhythms, sounds & patterns. Tap is great for developing musicality and coordination skills. Rhythm, coordination, pattern recognition, memorization skills, problem/puzzle solving

This fun class combines upbeat, stylized movement with proper technique. Jazz dance is based on ballet principles with each class consisting of a warm-up using isolated movements, across the floor progressions, and current choreography all set to age appropriate music.

This class is primarily about skills progression. In this class dancers learn how to properly warm-up, condition, and develop technique that will help them grow in all of their choreography classes. Leaps & Turns is a “technique” class only and does not have a performance in the Recital.

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical, classical ballet and even hip-hop. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and body through their movement.

An expressive form of dance that incorporates a fusion of many dance styles. Many times, this style tells a story through choreography and dance phrases inspired by the lyrics of the song being used. Dancers are encouraged to explore their emotions and movement through improvisation. A strong ballet and jazz foundation enhances the quality of movement.

Wee Leaps & Turns focuses on the mechanics and technique of Jazz dance! Dancers will learn how to properly warm-up and stretch for class. Flexibility and balance will be a main focus of class. Across the Floor Progressions allow the dancers the opportunity to learn how to stand in line and take turns while also improving their knowledge of multiple movement-based skills. Leaps & Turns is a technique based class and will NOT perform in the recital

Wee Ballet is a magical class that combines traditional ballet with creative movement! This class is for little ones who love expanding their vivid imaginations and learning new things! Wee Ballet dancers will perform a story-driven ballet and creative movement piece in the Recital. It is such a special and exciting time to perform on the″Big Stage″ in front of family and friends! Our Wee Ballet class will also receive some engaging activity sheets throughout the season to enhance their understanding of dance movement and performance!

Wee Tap is so much fun! We love getting to watch our youngest dancers use their special shoes to create different rhythms, sounds & patterns. Tap is great for developing musicality and coordination skills. Our Wee Tappers will also perform in the Recital! Wee Tap will include fun activity sheets as they learn new steps and terminology.
