Classes

Adult Ballet

I haven’t taken ballet since I was 5 years old, but thought I’d try the adult ballet class. I am having SO much fun! It’s great exercise and I have such a feeling of accomplishment as I learn.

Ballet

Children who learn to dance build self-confidence while learning discipline and other life skills. We encourage our students to focus on their development instead of comparing themselves to others in a competitive environment.

Academy Division

For scheduling purposes, to keep class size manageable, and for consistent and appropriate advancement, Academy Division students are committed to pay for the entire year (not applicable to Children’s Division or Community Division).

Community Division

Any Children’s Division or Community Division student who stops taking lessons after the first day of the month must pay for the entire month. Children’s Division and Community Division families who wish to un-enroll must do so in writing.

recreational classes

Students wishing to take recreational classes are encouraged to enroll in the Community Division. This division is for students who wish to take recreational classes.

Dance programs

Once you click on the Join Us button, you will be redirected to an application form where you can apply for one of our Dance programs. Once submitted, we will be in touch to finalize your enrollment, which can be paid via credit card, cash or direct bank transfer.

placement class

New students with extensive ballet training are invited to take a placement class to determine the most appropriate level; placement is based on ability and not age. Please contact the school office at 512-894-2147 or email [email protected] if you have any questions or to schedule a placement class.

Children’s Division

Enrollment in the Children’s Division is based on a child’s age on or before September 1st. Children under the age of nine are generally placed in the Children’s Division without further evaluation.

Beginning Ballet

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

Jazz

Students learn jazz dance technique and complex jazz combinations. No experience necessary. This class focuses on jazz and great music. Class format consists of a warm-up to enhance core strengthening, balance, and extensions through isolations, rhythmic exercises, and floor stretches.

Tap

Students learn tap-rhythm and timing, and proper terminology and musicality is stressed. No experience is necessary. Young dancers will learn balance, shifting of weight and the difference between right and left all while having fun!

Contemporary

The Academy Division is a pre-professional classical ballet training program for serious dancers seeking community with like-minded students and high-caliber training to prepare them for a professional or academic career in dance. Our experienced faculty provides our students with quality dance education. Students train in multiple genres of dance and develop artistically through various performance opportunities.

PRIMARY BALLET

Primary Ballet places strong emphasis on developing basic ballet technique and consists of levels: Primary 1, Primary 2, and Primary 3.Students progress through these levels as through grades in any school; however, students move at different rates. Advancement is based on ability, not age.

PRE-BALLET

Pre-Ballet serves as a prelude to formal ballet instruction with the aim to teach ballet with age-appropriate child development in mind. This levels’ dance activities and classes are story-based and introduce ballet through the classical story ballets in a way that inspires children to love ballet and its rich tradition.

DISCOVER DANCE STAGE 4

We continue the exploration of the concepts of dance with more emphasis on physical growth, flexibility, coordination, and technique. Combining skills assist in memory development as structured explorations continue to develop our problem solving and social skills. This foundation prepares us for the continuation of training in any style of dance.

Discover Dance Stage 3

Discover the magic of imaginative play with live singing, structured explorations, and skill development. This class offers an outlet for creative expression, physical growth, and social interaction. Children will continue to explore the essence of movement as they develop crucial skills to create an optimal and successful learning experience.

Watch your child’s independence and confidence soar as we explore and discover the benefits of a structured dance class without the help of their caretaker. Following directions, waiting for our turn, and collectively problem solving will encourage dancers’ emotional and social development.

Music, movement, visuals, and props will enhance your dancer’s love of the art form and the unique conceptual approach to dance education will provide a strong foundation for technical and cognitive growth.

Tap and jazz

The Community Program at Central Texas Youth Ballet allows recreational students to take class on a drop-in basis. Classes currently include tap and jazz. Please contact us if you would like for us to offer Adult Ballet or Adult Tap (Beg.). We can develop a class with as few as five students.

Ballet, Character dance and conditioning

The Primary Program places strong emphasis on developing basic ballet technique. Students gain strength, develop stamina and learn to work as a team as they master ballet technique. As standard procedure, students of all ages learn the basic ballet positions, the progression of a standard ballet barre and French vocabulary that defines all of the steps in classical ballet.

Pre-ballet, tap

Central Texas Youth Ballet’s Preschool Division promotes early childhood development as it exposes young children to dance and classical music while teaching coordination and introducing them to ballet vocabulary. Students are also taught classroom etiquette/discipline and placed in an environment to help improve concentration, listening skills, encourages creativity and group interaction.
