We offer quality ballet education in many area schools. Students learn age-appropriate ballet technique and french terminology using a fun and imaginative syllabus. Classes teach teamwork and self-discipline, increase motor skills and musicality, and foster creative thinking and a spirit of fun in the arts!

Modern Dance

Modern dance is a dance form that developed in the early twentieth century, partly as a rebellion against the traditional, more highly technical forms of dance such as ballet, as well as a way to express contemporary social concerns. While strongly influenced by classical ballet, the movement of modern dance can be quite different in dynamics and style; many movements are weighted and close to the earth.

BCH is proud to offer our Modern Dance Program for Levels 6-10 taught be JoDee Engle and Level 5 taught by Kristy Nilsson. Our Modern levels coordinate with our ballet levels. For non-ballet students, an audition for class placement is required.

Pre-Professional Division

This division includes levels 6-10. Students typically spend more than one year in each level. Students, twelve and older, intensify their training with additional classes dedicated to pointe work, vocabulary, technique, and artistry.

Level 5 Ballet

Level 5 is for students who have completed Level 4, and are at least ten years old and up. At this level, students begin pointe work and focus on technique through repetitive exercises and patterns at the barre and across the floor.

Students attend two 1.5-hour technique classes and one 1-hour pointe class per week.
Level 4 Ballet

Level 4 for dancers who have completed their Level 3 training. During class, build on their skills and strength, and refine their movement with attention to technique, execution and artistry.

Classes meet twice a week for 1.25 hours each class.
Level 3 Ballet

Level 3 is designed for students who have completed Level 2 having studied the basics and are ready to concentrate on developing a broader ballet vocabulary, doing more barre and center work, and focusing on correct placement.

Classes meet twice a week for one hour each.
Older Beginner Ballet

Older Beginner Ballet offered to older students who are beginning their training, is designed to help them quickly learn the basics of ballet and try to advance them into Levels 2-4 by giving attention to their specific needs.

Students may choose to attend once or twice a week and each class is one hour.
Level 2 Ballet

Level 2 is for students who have had Level 1 training or some basic ballet foundation including barre work on which to build.

Level 1 is an introduction to ballet for six-to-eight year olds, where they begin to learn ballet positions, movement, vocabulary and barre work.

Level K 5 – 6 years old

In this level they will progress with ballet terminology and positions and movements as they begin to transition to traditional classical training. Our Pre-ballet program consists of the following classes. We explore motor skills and musicality while encouraging creative thinking and a spirit of fun in the arts! Our young dancers attain higher levels of self-confidence as they develop strength, flexibility, and coordination through the joy of dance.

Pre-ballet lessons use a fun and imaginative syllabus to playfully introduce French ballet terminology, age-appropriate ballet technique, teamwork, self-discipline, and ballet etiquette. We explore motor skills and musicality while encouraging creative thinking and a spirit of fun in the arts! Our young dancers attain higher levels of self-confidence as they develop strength, flexibility, and coordination through the joy of dance.

Our Adult Ballet Class is designed for any adults that would like to experience the enjoyment and great exercise ballet offers. Our adult ballet class is a traditional ballet class with barré work, center, and combinations across the floor. Modifications are made throughout the class for varied skill levels and ability. There is no dress code, come in what you feel comfortable wearing that is appropriate for a ballet class. This is a beginner-intermediate level class. We offer a free trial class so that you can see if the class will fit your needs.
