Interval Performing Arts

From those who have never taken ballet to those who danced in their youth, this class is a great way to develop those skills and strengthen the body. This traditional ballet class will start with barre exercises, move to across the floor and center combinations, finishing with reverence.

Barre fitness is a ballet based NO IMPACT full body toning class. We work on mobility, flexibility and anatomical alignment. With modifications for every athlete this class is for beginning to advanced fitness friends.

This class is perfect for the beginner dancer who wants to learn to move to the music and cooperate with peers. Basics of ballet, creative movement and tumbling will be included. Each dancer will receive a package upon enrollment. The package includes, a t-shirt, costume, themed crafts, skills check and a certificate of completion at the end of each session. This class will have an informal performance for parents at the end of each session.

This class is perfect for the beginner dancer who wants to learn to move to the music and cooperate with peers. Basics of ballet and safe movement will be included in each class. This class will also incorporate safe stretching, warming-up and creative play. Cooperation and parent involvement is required. This is a non-performing class.

In the early stages of development it is vital for children to learn gross and fine motor movement. At Interval we strive to help little ones connect with others, learn basic dance technique, and refine those motor skills. Our goal is to provide a safe environment for littles to have fun and learn movement.

Acrobatic Dance, or Acro as it is commonly referred to by dancers and dance professionals, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Dancers will learn safety in tumbling skills and acrobatic dancing. Dancers will progress through skills at an age appropriate level. Each class will perform in two studio productions annually. Classes are divided by age groups and classified by "Beginning" and "Intermediate" . To trial the Intermediate Acro class dancers need to perform a cartwheel and back walkover independently. Acro is a co-curricular class, so students must simultaneously be in enrolled in a ballet and/or jazz class.

Hip-hop dance is a vibrant form of dance that combines a variety of freestyle movements to create a cultural piece of art. Through its three main styles of popping, locking, and breaking, hip-hop dance has evolved into one of the most popular and influential styles of dance. This class is divided into age groups "Rubies" "Sapphires" and Opals". All classes will learn choreography and perform in two studio productions annually.

The Opals classes are separated by style: ballet, tap, and jazz. Dancers will progress their skills in technique and performance as they also explore the joy of improvisation in different styles. Each class will perform in two studio productions annually. Dancers who hope to audition for company or competitive teams are strongly encouraged to take all of the Opals level classes.

This combo dance class includes ballet and tap OR ballet and jazz. Dancers will learn the basics of each style and the proper technique of stretching, warming up, and performance skills. This class will perform in the two studio productions each year, dance styles will be director discretion. Dancers interested in companies or competition teams are strongly encouraged to take both Rubies combo classes.

In Novice Dramatics, students will embark on an epic journey through their imagination. In this course, students will refine and practice skills such as teamwork, creativity, and confidence through drama activities. In addition, students will learn stage directions, beginning improvisation, pantomime, and many more theater concepts. Students will learn the elements of building a successful storyline and develop their selected and customized characters using the “tools of the actor” for a showcase on the final day of class. Through the development of their story, the students will design their own readers' theater.

In Intermediate Dramatics, students will embark on an epic journey through their imagination. In this course, students will refine and practice skills such as teamwork, creativity, and confidence through drama activities. In addition, students will learn stage directions, beginning improvisation, pantomime, and many more theatre concepts. Students will learn the elements of building a successful storyline and develop their selected characters using the “tools of the actor” for a showcase on the final day of class. Through the development of their story, the students will design their own script with lines, scenes, and blocking to memorize. Students will be responsible for practicing lines, scenes, and blocking at home during the week. T-shirts, props, and accessories will be provided. Students will experience and work together to share their creation. T-shirts, props, and accessories will be provided.

This fun and energetic class for ages 8-12 introduces young performers to the exciting world of musical theatre! Students will develop healthy vocal techniques in a supportive, encouraging environment while learning more about how their voices work. Each session combines singing with simple, choreographed movement, helping students build confidence and stage presence as they perform. Over the 10-week session, students will prepare a short showcase that highlights what they’ve learned, which they’ll perform for family and friends at the final class. With a focus on creativity, teamwork, and self-expression, this class is a great way for kids to explore the magic of musical theatre and discover if they’d like to take their skills to the next level in the future.
