Dance Etc. of Wichita Falls

This class offers students an extra chance to dive deeper into perfecting the technical fundamentals of different dance styles. Particular attention is placed on correct alignment, transitions, and overall physical strength and endurance. This is a skills only class and does not perform in our showcase.

Elementary Hip Hop is a basic introduction to hip hop and jazz funk styles of dance. The class will include hip hop technique and choreography, and of course freestyle improvisation! This dynamic style of dance helps students improve their flexibility and develop balance and coordination. We will have a blast dancing to age appropriate music and moves for the young dancers.

This 30 minute creative movement class is designed for children 12 months up to the age of 2 years. Music, movement, balance and the basic dance steps are introduced in a fun, friendly and positive manner. This class includes a loved one participating in the class along with the little dancer.

This class is a great place to learn, grow, and develop self-confidence in musical theatre skills. Our musical theatre classes are all-encompassing in the fields of singing, dancing and acting. This class will expand upon skills in Tap and Jazz with a focus on theatrical dancing.

Our Modern classes introduce our students to many technique styles, such as Horton, Limón, Graham, and Cunningham. Our main focus is working on physical alignment, movement flow, release technique, improvisation, and creating students who are familiar with the vocabulary of Modern dance. Admission is by permission only.

Our Pre-point technique class is designed for dancers who are beginning to be introduced to pointe technique, and is designed to help these dancers build strength, gain more flexibility, and provide a more detailed instruction of proper ankle alignment. Dancers who are enrolled in a ballet class at Dance Etc. can enroll in this class for an additional technique class, even if not preparing to go “en pointe”, with permission from the instructor. This is a skills only class and does not perform in our showcase. Our Pointe classes include barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor combinations. These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles. Pointe classes are designed for students with previous ballet training. Admission is by permission only.

Students will learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. The ballet curriculum is based on a combination of the French, Vagonova and Cecchetti methods. As students progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.

Tap is a style of American theatrical dance, distinguished by percussive footwork and rhythms. Students learn tap-rhythm and timing. Class consists of warm-up, center, and across the floor training. Proper terminology and musicality is stressed. All of our tap classes are taught as a combination class with jazz.

Our Hip Hop classes teach rhythm, coordination, musicality and choreography without suggestive music or movement. Students are challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic and fast-paced dance class. Our Hip Hop dancers develop focus, strength, and agility while having fun.

These classes work on freedom of expression and interpretation of music, while incorporating an eclectic blend of ballet, jazz, and modern techniques. Contemporary Dance allow students to explore their individual dance style outside of the structure of traditional ballet and jazz classes

Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz, with expressive motions that tell a story. Students will learn lyrical technique along with how to express emotion through movement.

Acro (acrobatics/tumbling) is centered on fundamental acrobatic technique to increase flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, timing, and body awareness. Dancers will work on basic gymnastic skills that enhance their dance skills/tricks. This is a skills only class and does not perform in our showcase.

Our jazz classes teach basic Jazz dance technique, terminology and style with an emphasis on proper technique, alignment and movement quality. Students will be exposed to various styles of Jazz such as Broadway, Classical Jazz, Street and Contemporary Jazz. All of our jazz classes are taught as a combination class with tap.

This class is designed to introduce students to Ballet and Tap in an age appropriate, fun-filled method of instruction. The class is structured to introduce the beginning disciplines of dance. Our teachers will keep the music and curriculum moving along in a way that is fun, positive and appropriate for children 2-5 years of age. Students enrolled in this program will also learn classroom behavior skills, movement concepts, and group cooperation in a creative and nurturing environment that sets a strong foundation for a lifetime of love for dance!
