Classes

Our classes focus on providing quality dance education. Our small classes and individualized attention allow dancers to be nurtured and directed through the challenges of dance education and training.

Adult Classes

Join us for a fun class incorporating jazz, tap, and fitness.

Modern Dance

Modern Dance is a free and expressive form of dance, originating in the early 20th century as a rebellion against the structure of Ballet. It is emotional, energetic, and requires strength and endurance. Our classes integrate many styles of music and dance. The goal of class is to prepare the mind and body of the dancer for a wide range of movement and stylistic possibilities.

Acro Dance

Acro Dance classes focus on stretching and conditioning to prepare the dancer for necessary flexibility, control, and strength for class. We will start class with a warmup and move into progressions to learn fun tricks. We will utilize mats in the studio as we develop the necessary skills to perform onstage.

Tap Dance

Our Tap classes are fun and energetic way to improve balance, coordination, and rhythm. Each class level will build progressively on basic steps learned in the beginning and culminating in more complex and rapid routines. Classes begin at age 7 and continue through Advanced Tap for the serious and experienced tapper and Adults who are trying it for the first time.

Hip Hop Dance

Hip Hop Dance classes explore musicality and strength using modern music. Each class will start with a warm-up to prepare the body for movement and focus on strength and body control. Then we will move into choreography that includes basic hip hop grooves, movement, and footwork.

Jazz Dance

Dancers will study classic Jazz Dance that focuses on coordination, balance, strength, flexibility, and musicality. Each class includes a warm-up and routines to emphasize all styles of Jazz Dance. Classes start at age 7 and continue through Advanced for the serious and adult dancer.

Ballet

The Classical Ballet curriculum at the Blue Ridge Studio is based on classical techniques and each student has the opportunity to study a variety of styles such as Vagonova (Russian), Cechetti (Italian), and French methods. While discipline, hard work and commitment are required of all students, expectations and goals are skill and age-appropriate.

Creative Movement

This class is designed for pre-school children, ages 3-5. It is a loosely structured class intended to encourage expression through movement and music. Our positive approach to dance places special emphasis on fun, exploration, and imagination. Dancers will absorb the many fundamentals of dance that will guide them in their future training.
