Ballet Extension, located in Bridgewater, Virginia, has been a premier dance training center since its founding in the Fall of 1997 under the direction of Susan Muterspaugh. Renowned for its strong emphasis on classical ballet, the studio offers a comprehensive range of classes for all ages and levels. From "Pre-Ballet" for beginners to "Advanced Ballet" and specialized "Pre-Pointe" and "Pointe" work, students receive expert instruction focused on proper technique and injury prevention. Beyond ballet, Ballet Extension provides expert training in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Modern dance, fostering a love for authentic technique across various styles. The studio boasts a unique affiliation with the Rockingham Ballet Theatre (RBT), offering students aged 10 and above the exceptional opportunity to audition for the pre-professional company. This affiliation allows for performances in full-length classical story ballets such as The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Coppelia, La Fille mal gardee, and The Nutcracker, as well as participation in original works. Students also showcase their skills in an annual Spring Recital. Ballet Extension's commitment to artistic development is further highlighted by its intensive Summer Ballet Intensive. This program, featuring guest instructors like Justin Estelle and Renee Avery from The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, offers an immersive experience in ballet technique, partnering, character work, and variations. Alumni have achieved notable success, pursuing dance degrees or professional careers and being accepted into prestigious summer dance programs nationwide. The studio maintains a caring atmosphere, encouraging students to realize their potential and develop essential life skills, attracting dancers from surrounding counties.
