The dance genres of Ballet, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, and African dance form the backbone of the Chance To Dance curriculum. Participants are introduced to basic movements and then hone these skills throughout the program.

Adaptive Dance Classes

An opportunity for children with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, or any other developmental and intellectual disabilities to explore the joy of dance with a supportive and knowledgeable team. Classes are adapted to match the strengths and abilities of each dancer.

Chance To Dance

This program provides dance lessons in the public schools for grades K-6 and gives children a hands-on experience with the arts.

Chance To Dance (C2D) is an after-school outreach program for grades K-5 that gives under-served children a hands-on experience with the arts. The Ballet partners with local public schools in both Charlottesville and Albemarle County and students are selected to receive lifetime scholarships to train at CBA.

A Fairy Tale Gathering

Experience The Nutcracker & our favorite fairy tales in a whole new way as ballerinas pirouette throughout the library during an interactive dance class and storytime featuring professional dancers from the Charlottesville Ballet! We’ll be reading a ballet story along with seeing the dancers perform excerpts from the ballet during this 30 minute event.

Movement For Parkinson’s
FREE

Charlottesville Ballet’s Movement For Parkinson’s is A Dance for PD® program for those with movement disorders and their care partners. In this FREE weekly class, students explore elements of dance to improve the quality of life through overall physical well-being, social interaction and creative expression, and targeted improvements in balance, strength and mobility.

Beginning January 2026, M4P will be offered solely as an outreach-based session model at local assisted living facilities and community centers! Keep an eye on this page for updates regarding where and when each 3-week session will be held.
