The Academy of Classical & Contemporary Dance, located in Chesapeake, Virginia, has been a cornerstone of dance education for over three decades. Situated at 677 Oak Grove Road, the studio fosters a passion for movement and artistic expression in students of all ages, from three years old through adults, and at all skill levels. Under the guidance of Owner and Artistic Director Lynne Economou, a seasoned professional with extensive training from the Joffrey Ballet School and Broadway Dance Center, the academy offers a comprehensive curriculum. Our diverse team of instructors, including Nikia Burks, Tamika Burks Steeley, Samuel Holley, Jennifer Wheeler, and Autumn Laufer, brings a wealth of expertise. Samuel Holley's passion for tap and Autumn Laufer's specialization in improvisation, contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop, complemented by her experience in competitive cheer and professional productions, enrich our program. We emphasize technique and artistic expression across a broad range of styles, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Modern, Lyrical, and Musical Theater. Students are grouped by skill level to ensure personalized instruction. The academy is also home to the acclaimed Fusion Dance Team, a competitive ensemble that has garnered numerous regional and national awards, including best choreography and overall high scores, demonstrating the high caliber of training provided. Operating Monday through Thursday afternoons and evenings, with weekend appointments available, we offer a healthy, structured, and supportive environment dedicated to fostering a lifelong love for the art of dance.
