Nestled in Morgantown, West Virginia, A W Dance Company offers a vibrant and nurturing environment with a small studio feel, fostering compassion, community, and uplifting support for all dancers. Founded in 2006 by Ashley Wheeler, who combined her passion for dance with a background in child development, AWDC has earned a reputation for professionalism and has garnered five competitive dance awards. The studio boasts a dedicated team of instructors, including Elizabeth Jones, lead acrobatic instructor; Danielle Blosser, head of the tap program; Melissa Ely, expert in Zumba and technique instruction; Avary Hamilton, a celebrated entertainer and jazz choreographer with an award for 'Ballroom Blitz'; Mallori Straub, contributing choreography awards; and Kyra Mathews, guiding the junior lyrical division to success. Emerging talents Grace Gutermuth, Aniyah Jones, and Lilly Mercer also contribute across various age groups and genres. A W Dance Company caters to a wide range of ages and skill levels, from preschool programs (ages 3-5) introducing fundamentals of gymnastics, ballet, and jazz, to dedicated classes for ages 5 and up, including competitive teams. Open Technique Classes & Yoga

Technique is mandatory for our competitors but all dancers are welcome to drop in to a class. Especially if you might be interested in competing. Occasionally, we offer a pop up yoga class.

Trio lessons

30 minute session with two other dance partners and an instructor. Must take a class in order to request a trio.

Duet Lessons

30 minute session with dance partner and an instructor. Must take a class in order to request a duo.

Preschool Combination

Age 3-5. A fun introduction to gymnastics, ballet and jazz! Here, the beginner student learns not only dance basics but also the structure of a dance class. Waiting in line, partnering, group work, cheering for classmates are all things we work on in addition to skill building. All classes begin with a gymnastics warm up and basic tumbling skills. Then, the class proceeds to do a bit of ballet and/or jazz dance. We bring parents in at the end of each class to show them what we have worked on. Our goals are following instructions, confidence in performing, gaining some flexibility and strength, finding our balance, along with starting a memory bank of new skills.

Beginning at age 5 with fundamentals. Gain flexibility and strength with acrobatic skills. Explore basic to advanced tumbling skills in more advanced classes.

Contemporary

Beginning at age 9/10. A fusion of jazz, ballet and currently seeing movement borrowed from many other styles of dance as well. Dance experience in multiple subjects is recommended prior to taking this class.
