The Tobacco Education program offered at Mercer Family Resource Center is an evidence-based, modern, nicotine-centered program that focuses primarily on vaping. Our goal is prevent nicotine graduation amongst teenagers and support youth in their tobacco cessation efforts. This program from the Stanford REACH lab is designed to help adolescents: Identify reasons teenagers are drawn to nicotine Develop their own individualized plan for setting goals related to nicotine Practice skills for nicotine cessation Access resources to help you manage their relationship with nicotine

Something for Nothing is an 6-hour educational class/group for entry-level shop lifters in the Natrona County area. Something for Nothing curriculum is designed to both share information about shoplifting and related crimes and stimulate higher level thinking skills to correct behaviors. The scope of the group’s process includes lecture, group discussion, videos, and many group activities.

VIBES Fine & Performing Arts offers the VIBES Tribe drumming middle school program as part of its after school programs. These centers provide a healthy and positive place for youth and children, promoting learning and leadership, offering enrichment activities, and encouraging family engagement.

Level 0.5 Drug and Alcohol Education is for youth ages 12-18 who are cited or arrested for a DUI, alcohol related, or substance related offenses. Participants must be referred to take this class. Mercer Family Resource Center conducts Substance Use Assessments (ASI/ASAM). If you are in need of an ASI/ASAM, please call 307-265-7366 to schedule. Drug & Alcohol Prevention : Underage concerns, consequences and long term effects, different types of use and severity Coping Skills: Relationship between individual and their substance use, evaluating the substance use, culture and risk factors Action Plan: Impact on life, targeting your goals, and looking at strategies for making better decisions Safety: Overdosing concerns, the law, your health, impaired driving, and evaluating addiction

Insight into Substance Prevention is a thought based approach to substance abuse education/early intervention. The class promotes informed thinking, which leads to better decision making in the future. The class is designed for youth needing information and education on substance use prevention. Teens resist being told what to think and feel; however, when presented with information, they are absolutely capable of making well reasoned, thought-based decisions. Students are exposed to a well-researched and up-to-date curriculum that is presented through video formats, discussion, and listening carefully to what students have to say. Teens are encouraged to think for themselves and weigh research and conclusions. Data is presented and it is the job of the student to digest and assimilate that data.

Corrective Thinking is an evidence based course that prepares students with the skills they need for academic, social, and life success. Students learn how to navigate the challenges of social and academic pressures such as making responsible decisions, managing stress, reflecting on personal relationships, and resolving conflict peacefully. The lessons apply collaborative and experiential learning strategies to help students practice the skills proven to prevent violence and other risky behaviors.

Anger Management is a course for teens 12-18. This program uses the curriculum Responding in Peaceful and Positive Ways. This program is designed to enable your teen to recognize the underlying emotions/triggers and replace anger with healthy coping skills.
