Classes

Modern III/IV

Curriculum is based on the innovative dance training method of Lester Horton. The material presented will help to build strength, agility, and flexibility. This modern dance technique is the source of inspiration to countless modern dance choreographers and continues to train strong, versatile dancers, expanding the body's traditional range of motion.

Contemporary IV/Company

Fusion of contemporary ballet, modern, and lyrical styles. This is our senior company.

Contemporary II/III Company

Fusion of contemporary ballet, modern, and lyrical styles. This is our junior company.

Hip Hop III

The design of this class is to teach and learn choreography at a fast pace. The classes are inspired by the latest styles coming out of LA and NY.

Hip Hop II

Students focus on endurance and strength. Break dance, popping/locking, tutting, and vogue are just a few of the new styles learning in this level. Age appropriate music and choreography are used in all hip hop classes.

Jazz III

In addition to polishing technique, performance tricks are taught. Turns that meld into additional turns and jumps are included in multiple across the floor sequences.

Jazz II

Jazz II focuses on building strength and flexibility, as well as increasing the height of kicks and leaps, and executing multiple turns. Combinations will be used to develop performance skills.

Tap III

A great deal of consciousness goes towards line, level, shading, accenting, clarity, direction, and rhythmic patterning. There is a strong development of individualism and pride of accomplishment toward the style of movement. Improvisation is a focal point includes the creation of rhythms, steps, and combinations.

Tap II

This class focuses on attentions to accenting, shading, and clusters of sound. It increases the idea of solo work, demonstration, and the development of dance projects and public performances.

Pointe IV

For the student who has taken beginning/intermediate pointe for 2 years. Two ballet classes per week is required. This is an advanced class. Centre pointe work must be strong and technically correct to join.

Pointe III

For the student who has taken beginning/intermediate pointe for 2 years. Two ballet classes per week is required. This is an intermediate/advanced class. Centre pointe work must be strong and technically correct to join.

Beginning Pointe

For the student who has taken ballet for more than two years. Two ballet classes per week is required. The student must be at least age 11 and pass a physical and technical exam given by the teacher of the class. We take pointe very seriously and want to be safe and healthy in our approach to this stunning art form.

Ballet IV

One of the most advanced classes offered by our studio. Students are proficient in RAD, Vaganova, and Cecchetti schools of training. They are knowledgeable in common variations including Bluebird, Sugar Plum, Kitri, 4 Swans, etc. They perform these skills multiple times in a semester. Students are required to take 2 ballet classes per week.

Ballet III

Curriculum follow the lesson plans, artistry, and performance savvy established by the Royal Academy of Dance. In addition, students start learning different schools of ballet including Vaganova and Cecchetti. Terminology quizzes occur once a semester. Performance opportunities are more common. Students are required to take 2 ballet classes per week.

Ballet II

Curriculum follow the lesson plans, artistry, and performance savvy established by the Royal Academy of Dance. Barre sequences grow more complex in patterning. Centre sequences include more complex turns and jumps. Variations teach how to perform in an artistic fashion with more complex arrangements in space and music.

Level 1 AcroDance

Acro Dance is different from typical gymnastics and tumbling classes. It is the seamless fusion of dance and acrobatic skills. The techniques taught help students to perform the skills safely on a hard floor (dance or stage floor) and to allow seamless flow from an acrobatic move into dance moves during choreography. It also helps to develop strong and well rounded dancers.

Hip Hop I

Hip hop is a popular style of dance that began in urban areas and can now be seen in music videos, commercials, television, and Broadway musicals. Through the study of hip hop, students will learn coordination, strength, agility and endurance. Age appropriate music and choreography are used in all hip hop classes.

Contemporary/Jazz I

This one hour combo class focuses on jazz and contemporary technique. This class builds on the foundation a student gains through ballet and teaches them to use their technique as they explore different steps and styles. Combinations will be used to develop performance skills.

Ballet/Tap I

This one hour and fifteen minute combo class focuses on basic dance technique for ballet and tap. Students will gain an understanding of beginning dance terminology and skills. They will also develop a sense of rhythm and flexibility through various dance steps and combinations.

Creative Combo 1 Ballet/Tap

Creative Movement is aimed at developing gross motor skills, classroom etiquette (following directions, taking turns, etc.), and learning beginning tap and rhythm. Students will begin the year in ballet shoes, when the teacher feels the students are ready, they will also start dancing in their tap shoes.
