Musical Theater

In Musical Theatre class, we place emphasis on storytelling through movement. Dancers will gain confidence in emoting and portraying a variety of characters through learning combinations, acting exercises, and stage knowledge. Building off of jazz techniques, dancers will learn routines and scenes to music from classic to more contemporary Broadway shows. This class will additionally focus on some vocal skills including stage projection, inflection, and singing.

Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms. Classes begin at the barre where students perform movement sequences to develop strength, coordination, balance and proper alignment. These skills are reinforced through center and across the floor combinations. Classical technique and vocabulary are taught. Continues training of ballet vocabulary by establishing more complex material, port de bras, and musicality. Ballet 1– Ballet 3 students are placed by the Elyon’s staff based on ability and previous experience.
