All the beginning classes (level 0) are geared for you to drop in and start learning right away.

She feels blessed to be able give back to the dance community through teaching, and pass on what has been given to her by teaching classes that incorporate and fuse elements of studio dance into belly dance.

Amber has experience teaching all ages, from toddler to adults. She took her first class with Shahala at Dublin Park in Madison in 2007, and performed with Nalah Caravanserai, an Egyptian troupe under the direction of Safiye before joining Lumani in 2009. Belly dance marries Amber’s lifelong loves of history and dance in a wholly new way.

Drawing from her love of all types of music, she tries to bring styles ranging from Cabaret and Tribal through Jazz and Hip hop. Her philosophy can be definitively described as Fusion. She strives to be as informative as possible while remaining easily approachable. She promises to keep learning relaxed and fun.

Belly dance is a dance form for all, from classic folk dance beginnings to tribal fusion styles. My classical ballet background directs me to respect the origins and history of the dance style. My experience with UCSC Theater Arts/Dance Emphasis inspires me to explore and entertain through dance, but above all, it should be fun.

New students can take any 0 rated class.

Nomadic Fringe is the student troupe for Nomadic Tapestry. If you are interested in participating in our student troupe, please speak with Lisa. Only students enrolled in Unlimited classes and have demonstrated an understanding of basic moves are permitted to participate. You may join the troupe even if you have no desire to perform. Everyone learns at a different rate so I evaluate each potential participant individually. Attending technique class and rehearsal regularly on Monday night is required for qualifying for performance opportunities. There is a troupe fee of $10 per month.

These 2 classes are designed to get your basics on track. If you are new to belly dance and our studio then please come to a Monday or Wednesday at 6pm to take a basic class to register for classes. No need to preregister for classes. Just come early to class and sign up.

SEEDs is an after-school program for young women (13-18 yrs). The class meets 2 days a week throughout the school year. Participants will receive instruction in American Tribal Style Dance and will use journals and talking circles to discuss a range of issues including self-esteem, body-image, financial independence, and personal goals. There will be performance opportunities throughout the year.

This class is for students who have completed at least 6 weeks of level 0 classes. Learn more advanced bellydance techniques and movements with our experienced instructors.

This class is for advanced students who have taken 3 months or more of level 1 classes or equivalent. It requires regular attendance, focus, and proficiency in belly dance movements. Participants will rehearse for performances.
