We offer school-based dance classes at Scruggs Academy. Our Baby Stars Move Class, a 45-minute dance class, is offered as an introduction to dance for scholars ages 3 to 5.

Ranging from an hour to 2 hours, this class is for enrolled dancers who are interested in one on one instruction in their style of choice in a therapeutic dance setting. This session engages the dancer in a private dance session as a way to create community and develop body placement, control, and improve coordination. A forty five minute to an hour Acro dance class that combines the strength and flexibility of acrobatics with the fluidity and musicality of dance for a dynamic and exciting class experience! Dancers will learn acrobatic skills such as rolls, handstands, cartwheels, bridges, and walkovers, all while developing strong technique, balance, and control. This class is perfect for dancers looking to enhance their versatility and performance skills with gravity-defying movement! This dance class is offered on three levels, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

A forty five minute introductory dance class for toddlers containing ballet, tap and creative movement. Students are introduced to basic ballet vocabulary while exploring movement and music in a fun and creative way. Our instructors use imagination games, upbeat age-appropriate music and props such as scarves, hula hoops, tambourines and maracas to inspire and excite students about dance. Students will also work on classroom skills such as following directions, increasing social skills, turn taking, listening and working with others. This class is a positive and fun first dance experience for all! This class is offered on two levels, Baby Stars for dancers ages 2-4, and Beginner level dancers.

A forty five minute combo class blends the technical foundation of ballet with the expressive, emotive qualities of lyrical dance. Dancers will focus on refining classical ballet technique through barre, center, and across-the-floor work, while exploring lyrical choreography that emphasizes fluidity, storytelling, and dynamic movement. This class challenges dancers to connect emotion with movement, improve flexibility and control, and develop greater artistry and performance quality. This class will be offered on two levels, Intermediate, and Advanced.

A forty five minute upbeat combo class that introduces dancers to the elegance of ballet and the energy of jazz in one fun and balanced experience. Students will build a strong technical foundation through ballet barre and center work, focusing on posture, alignment, and graceful movement. Students will also be taught dynamic across-the-floor progressions and choreography full of sharp, stylish, and expressive movement.. This class will be offered on two levels, Beginner and Intermediate.

A forty five minute dance class that will focus on fusing the fundamentals of the technique of jazz dance with the popular music trends of pop and R&B. Our jazz classes teach basic jazz dance technique, terminology and style with an emphasis on proper technique, alignment and movement quality. This class will be offered on three levels, Intermediate, Intermediate Advanced, and Advanced.

A forty five minute high-energy combo class that blends the rhythm and style of hip hop with the technique of jazz dance! Dancers will learn foundational steps from both styles while building confidence, coordination, and musicality. This class will be offered on Beginner level only.

A forty five minute dance class that will focus on teaching the fundamentals and technique of hip hop along with the popular urban dance moves associated with hip hop music of today. This high energy class teaches rhythm, coordination, and balance through age-appropriate movements set to fun upbeat music. Hip Hop instills rhythm and helps dancers develop muscle memory. This class will be offered on three levels, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

An hour dance class focusing on teaching the fundamentals of majorette dancing. Dancers will learn the basics of marching, increasing rhythm and coordination, and stage presence. This class serves as an introductory course to dance. Dancers will also learn about syncopation, placement, formations, counting music, and how to have stage presence. Dancers will increase their self-control and discipline, all while enjoying the art of majorette dance. This class will be provided with all levels combined.
