Moonridge School Of Dance

This class is designed to help add to the already established bond between parent and child. It also prepares our tiny dancers to join the Creative Movement class. We focus on rhythm and hand and eye coordination through a variety of games and songs. We begin to introduce the concept of the different parts and sides of the body, balance, as well as beginning to gallop and skip. The best part is, the parents get to join in the fun!

Designed to challenge their growing bodies with new terminology and skills, this class is a continuation from Dance Creations and a preparation for Ballet I and all other dance disciplines. Curriculum focuses on the next set of skills in ballet and tap such as learning to articulate the body, understanding musicality with movement, continued focus on weight change and balance, and taking direction. This class prepares them for technique classes that require focus and discipline.

The curriculum is designed to meet them where they are in their mental and physiological development to introduce the concept of being in a dance class and taking instruction. This quickly moving class keeps their attention while teaching weight transfer, balance, left and right, forming lines, skipping, and jumping. Basic ballet and tap vocabulary and movement are introduced and practiced to develop musicality and prepare their bodies for the basics of all the dance disciplines.

This class is for adults with some or no dance experience ! It's meant to be fun, fun, fun with some exercise and socializing mixed in. We're gonna work hard for sure, but have a blast while we do it!!

Adult ballet classes are offered for the absolute beginner as well as dancers returning to the barre, or who are serious practitioners!

Traditionally structured ballet technique classes start in Ballet I for ages 7 -12. Pre-Pointe/Pointe classes will generally be offered to a student who has achieved the required growth and technique level to be accepted into this class.

Classical Ballet Technique is our forte. Ballet classes are offered for every age and level of technique. From pre-schoolers to adults Moonridge School of Dance focuses on teaching ballet technique through safe, body positive methods designed to continually challenge and develop the dancers whatever their dance goals may be. It is our joy to instill a love and respect for the art of ballet, build self-confidence and self-esteem through hard work and discipline, and pass the heritage of classical ballet to the next generation.

This is not a class but a uniform requirement for company rehearsals for dancers from Ballet I – IV. Dancers must wear a black leotard, pink mesh seamed tights, and pink shoes. Dance Creations and Dance Fundamentals should wear pink. Ballet skirts or shorts are optional.

Tap dance emphasizes rhythm, timing, and intricate footwork, creating percussive sounds with tap shoes. Dancers need tights, leotards, leggings, fitted shirts, and black tap shoes.

Lyrical dance blends classical ballet and jazz techniques with a focus on fluidity, expression, and storytelling through movement. Dancers should wear leotards, tights, leggings, and shirts that allow for free movement. Consult the teacher for specific shoe preferences.

This class combines the dynamic energy of Jazz with the urban style of Hip-Hop, focusing on rhythm, coordination, and performance. Dancers wear leotards, leggings, a fitted shirt (if wanted), and black slip-on jazz shoes.

Ballet IV focuses on advanced classical ballet technique, preparing dancers for pre-professional training and performance. Dancers must wear a black leotard, pink ballet tights, and pink ballet shoes. Ballet skirts or shorts may be worn in class.

Ballet III refines classical ballet technique, emphasizing artistry, musicality, and advanced steps. Dancers wear a solid color leotard, pink ballet tights, and pink ballet shoes. Ballet skirts or shorts may be worn in class.

Ballet II continues the development of classical ballet technique, introducing more complex steps and combinations. Dancers require a solid color leotard, pink ballet tights, and pink ballet shoes.

Ballet I introduces classical ballet technique with a focus on posture, alignment, and basic vocabulary. Dancers should wear a solid color leotard, pink ballet tights, and pink ballet shoes.

Dance Fundamentals builds upon creative movement, introducing more structured dance concepts and techniques. Dancers require a solid color leotard, pink ballet tights, black tap and pink ballet shoes. Please keep "floofies" and sparkles to a minimum.

Creative Movement is a foundational class for young dancers, focusing on imagination and basic motor skills through dance. Dancers wear a solid color leotard, pink ballet tights, black tap and pink ballet shoes. Minimal "floofies", sparkles, etc. are encouraged.

All dancers from Ballet I – IV please wear a black leotard, pink mesh ballet tights, and pink shoes to all company rehearsals. Creative Movement and Dance Fundamentals please wear pink or baby blue. Dancers may wear ballet skirts/shorts.

Monday nights is for beginning ballet students wanting to learn the fundamentals of technique, body awareness, stretch, and conditioning.

We have an adult Jazz class on Thursday evenings that teaches the fundmentals of classic jazz as well as broadway, musical, lyrical, and modern jazz styles.

This class is for dancers with at least 2 years of ballet.

Wednesday nights for adults with a basic knowledge of ballet who want a full ballet class from barre to across the floor!
