Impact Dance Center, located in Los Alamitos, California, has been a cornerstone of dance education and inspiration since its founding in 1972. Under the current guidance of Catherine Gray and Kim, and with a legacy established by founder Nancy Kindorf, the studio fosters a love for movement in students of all ages and backgrounds. Tap

Club Sweets is a key part of your dancer’s tap training, helping them grow stronger and develop their artistry. Rehearsals and choreography are integrated into your dancer’s regular tap classes, with additional dedicated sessions as needed. Choreography will be taught during regular weekly classes. An invitation-only production that is part of the Winter Fantasy showcase. Ensemble choreography for these productions is introduced in regular classes, with a few extra rehearsals scheduled to bring the story to life on stage. Production fees cover rehearsal time, costume rentals, lighting, props, theater space, cast T-shirts, the photo shoot (packages sold separately), and a digital video download of the performance.

JUMPS & TURNS

Jumps & Turns at Impact focuses on the strength, control, and precision required to execute technical elements with consistency and power. Classes integrate targeted conditioning to develop the core strength, alignment, and stability necessary for dynamic jumps and flawless turn sequences. Dancers train proper takeoff and landing mechanics, rotational control, directional changes, and transitions that directly support their performance across choreography and styles.

ACRO

Acro at Impact is designed to complement and enhance a dancer’s existing technical training — not replace it. Instructors are certified through the Acrobatic Arts curriculum, guiding students through a codified progression of beginning, intermediate, and advanced acro skills specifically developed for dancers. Classes focus on strength, flexibility, control, and balance while safely introducing partnering work, balances, and acrobatic elements that integrate seamlessly into choreography. Acro is not gymnastics or tumbling but an intentional extension of our dance curriculum that builds versatility, artistry, and dynamic movement pathways while maintaining strict attention to safety, technical precision, and proper progression.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop classes at Impact train dancers as full-bodied, dynamic movers. Each class includes a comprehensive warmup and conditioning sequence to prepare the body for grounded, fluid, and rhythmically precise movement. Dancers explore foundational grooves, isolations, and musicality while building strength, coordination, and stamina. LYRICAL/INTEGRATED MODERN

At Impact, Lyrical/Integrated Modern develops versatile dancers who can move seamlessly between today’s lyrical jazz competition style and the dynamic demands of collegiate modern and contemporary work. Classes blend technical foundations from ballet and jazz with grounded modern principles, musicality, and emotional storytelling. Dancers explore fluidity, weight transfer, spatial awareness, and dynamic contrast while learning to balance precision with artistry. BALLET

Through progressive barre, center, and across-the-floor work, dancers develop control, flexibility, musical phrasing, and refined artistry. Our ballet classes emphasize proper technique while encouraging dancers to approach classical training with discipline, intention, and performance presence all while building skills that complement their development in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, and beyond.

JAZZ

Impact’s jazz training is rooted in clean technique, strong performance quality, and versatility across multiple jazz styles. Dancers build technical foundations through focused work on alignment, strength, control, flexibility, turns, leaps, and directional changes. As students progress, they develop the ability to adapt between classic, commercial, and contemporary jazz styles with an emphasis on clarity, musicality, and storytelling through movement. TAP

At Impact, we believe that great tap training is at the core of every great dancer. Our curriculum honors both the history and artistry of tap, blending foundational technique with an understanding of the style’s rich cultural roots. Impact WEEKLY for YOUTH & TEEN

Once dancers are ready for structured weekly training, they transition into Youth Weekly Classes which includes both Academy level classes (for ages 5–6 with placement) and leveled classes from 1A and up. Families build schedules based on placement and personal goals, whether that’s one class per week or a multi-class schedule across styles.

IMPACT PETITES
