About Santa Barbara Festival Ballet
Santa Barbara Festival Ballet, located in Santa Barbara, California, has been a distinguished institution for nearly 50 years, dedicated to fostering artistic growth and a lifelong appreciation of the performing arts. We provide a comprehensive dance education for students of all ages, from preschool through adult, in a nurturing environment that emphasizes sound technique, artistry, and musicality. Our curriculum offers a strong foundation in classical Ballet, alongside instruction in Beginning and Intermediate Jazz, open-level Contemporary dance blending modern techniques with expressive movement, and introductory Acrobatics classes. Our accomplished faculty includes Artistic Director Emerita Denise Rinaldi, a Fellowship holder in Cecchetti USA; Artistic Director Valerie Huston, Senior Lecturer at UC Santa Barbara; Resident Choreographer Conor Adler; Georgia Goldsmith, with extensive ballet and modern training; Madeline Stiner, trained at American Ballet Theatre; Bella Schwartz, offering foundational training across multiple styles; and Meredith Ventura, founder of Selah Dance Collective. Advanced dancers aged 12-18 are invited to audition for our pre-professional performing company, which provides challenging performance opportunities. Students have exciting performance opportunities, including auditions for our annual production of The Nutcracker, often accompanied by a live symphony orchestra, and participation in The Ballet Alliance festivals. We also feature spring repertoire performances of classical and contemporary ballet. Santa Barbara Festival Ballet is committed to building lasting connections within the community, integrating the art of dance through outreach programs and cherished traditions like our long-standing "Nutcracker" performances at the Arlington Theatre. It's a place where children thrive, express creativity, and find a true passion for dance.
