Classes

Musical Theatre

Two levels of musical theatre will be offered. Classes will focus on character development while dancing and introduce vocals as their character grows. Class instruction will include choreography, acting skills and voice.

Jazz

Jazz dancing is a form that showcases a dancer's originality. All jazz dancers interpret and execute moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing consists of quick footwork, big leaps, and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance.

Tap

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds and having fun. As students progress through the 5 levels, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.

Contemporary Levels

Contemporary dance is an expressive style of dance that abandons the rigid, centered aspect of classic forms of dance, and utilizes unconventional movements from styles around the world. It incorporates certain elements of ballet, modern dance, and jazz.

Ballet Basics For Ballet Dancers

For ballet dancers who are beginning their dance training as a pre-teen or teenager. Begin ballet technique at barre, learn vocabulary pertaining to level, become aware of correct ballet posture and turnout. Floor exercises to develop strength in feet and legs for future pointe work. Thera band is required. Two 1 hour classes per week required.

All vocabulary and theory of previous levels should be incorporated in addition to new material. Increased technique and exercise difficulty at the barre and center work. Additional stretch or yoga classes encouraged.
