About Peak Academy of Dance
Peak Academy of Dance, located in Aspen Park, Colorado, offers a comprehensive and community-focused dance education for students of all ages. Building a strong foundation from beginner to advanced levels, the academy fosters a family-friendly and fun environment where dancers can discover their artistic voices. Peak is a community focused, family friendly, fun environment which focuses on creating well-rounded individuals, who find their artistic voice through dance. Each semester, teacher’s scaffold important skills for dancers to learn and master that build a foundation for the next level. At the end of each semester classes culminate with an all school recital at our own Indigo Bridge Theatre. Students who complete 5 full cycles, which include a year of instruction, Winter Showcase and Spring Recital, receive dedication awards for their active participation in furthering the arts. These awards are presented during Spring Recital at the end of each full cycle. These performances express the dedication and comprehensive expression of the each students hard work.

This class is for students ages 18 and up. It has an ongoing curriculum. Students meet for one hour each week for the class. Adult Tap incorporates technique, musicality, and performance elements to meet students at their level. Students will learn common rhythms and sequences as well as unique choreography. Typically, this class participates in both the winter and spring recitals (optional).
Tap 5
This class is designed for students ages 14 and up. It is supported by an ongoing curriculum. Students meet for one and a half hours each week for the class. Students must have completed Tap 4, Teen Tap, or audition for this class. Students will continue to extend their Tap vocabulary, master advanced rudiments, focus on Tap Repertoire, engage in more complex counterpoints, begin the use of accenting, analyze musical structures, and continue developing their unique improvisation voice.
Tap 4
This class is designed for students ages 12 and up. It is supported by a two-year curriculum. Students meet for one hour each week for the class. Students must have completed Tap 3, Teen Tap, or audition for this class. Students will continue to extend their Tap vocabulary, master advanced rudiments, focus on Tap Repertoire, engage in more complex counterpoints, analyze musical structures, and continue developing their unique improvisational voice.
Teen Tap
This class is designed for students aged 12 and up and meets for 1 hour a week. Students are required to have taken tap 1, tap 1/2, tap 2/3, or audition for this class. Students will continue to develop their tap vocabulary, manipulations, rudiments, musical phrasing, and tap improvisation, and explore counterpoint manipulations, and tap repertoire.
Tap 3
This class is designed for students ages 10 and up. It is supported by a two-year curriculum. Students meet for one hour each week for the class. Students must have completed Tap 2, Tap 1-2, or audition for this class. Students will continue to extend their Tap vocabulary, master intermediate rudiments, explore Tap Repertoire, engage with counterpoint, and begin developing their unique improvisational voice.
Tap 2
This class is designed for students ages 8 and up. It is supported by a two-year curriculum. Students meet for one hour each week for the class. Students must have completed Tap 1, Tap 1-2, or audition for this class. Students will continue to extend their Tap vocabulary, master more advanced rudiments, explore musical phrasing, and continue exploring improvisation.
Tap 1-2 (Beginning Tap)
This class is designed for students aged 6 and up and meets for 1 hour every week. This class is supported by an ongoing curriculum. Students require no tap experience to join this class. Students will develop their basic tap vocabulary, manipulations, and rudiments, explore musical phrasing, and explore tap improvisation.
Tap 1
This class is designed for students ages 6 and up. It is supported by a two-year curriculum. Students meet for one hour each week for the class. Students can enter this class with no experience. Students will learn foundational single and double sound manipulations, and basic rudiments, begin a relationship with music, and explore improvisation.
Adult Funk
This class is for students ages 18 and up. It has an ongoing curriculum. Students meet for one hour each week for the class. Students will explore several different dance styles and themes each week from 90s hip hop to Super Bowl halftime jazz routines! Each week offers a thorough full-body stretch, a quick workout, and a short dance routine. A good workout for the body and mind! At the end of the semester, we perform in the studio recitals (optional)!
Tween Voice/Theater
Level 2, Ages 8–14. A 1-hour class once a week. This class will continue the level 1 goals, developing clear, stress-free vocal skills using head voice, chest voice, and mix, exploring their full vocal range of low to high, smoothing the voice breaks, singing acapella, and harmonizing. Students will be encouraged to have more creative input (age- and voice-appropriate) in music selections and performances, staying mostly with the styles listed for Starburst. In the acting portion, basic archetypes will be learned and used to create interesting characters, and both improvisation and movement will be added to performances. Audition skills and secrets will be taught and practiced.
Starburst Voice/Theater
Level 1, ages 5–8. A 45–min. class once a week. This is early-age exposure to singing (and speaking) with a clear voice and easy breath flow, free of tension, on the pitch, and in tempo, through fun exercises and songs. Music, both acapella and accompanied, will be chosen from Broadway and movie musicals, Disney, folk, pop, and children’s songs, all appropriate for the child’s developing voice. The acting and movement portions include group improvisation games, simple steps, and arm moves, beginning character development, and confidence building for performance.
Lyrical Program
Employs storylines or overarching emotional themes to guide the flow and line of movement within a dance. It harnesses the grace of Ballet with the strength of Jazz and Modern to create a magnificent form of visual communication. Students may enter level 1 with no experience; however, they must get teacher permission to enter levels 2-5. Ages Advanced, Levels 1-5
Jazz Program
Explores a variety of different cultural dance styles with strong roots in both African Vernacular Jazz Dance and Traditional Caribbean Folk Dance. Its technique includes a focus on body isolations and rhythmical movement. In recent years many styles have emerged: from Luigi to Fosse. Today's Jazz has overlapping elements of Hip-Hop as well as Lyrical. Our focus is on creating a strong basic understanding of the fundamentals needed for Jazz dance in the lower levels and branching out into an exploration of different styles at the more advanced levels. Students may enter level 1 with no experience; however, they must get teacher permission to enter levels 2-5.
Hip Hop Program
A physically challenging dance form, focuses on individuals expressing personal attitudes and thoughts through dance in an improvisational setting. Hip Hop includes many of the Break Dance elements but not all. At each technique level offered at Peak, the following areas are addressed: tools of the trade, history, b-boying, b-girling, tumbling, and musicality. Students may enter level 1 with no experience; however, they must get teacher permission to enter levels 1-5.
Choreography Program
This class is designed for students who want to learn the principles and processes behind dance composition. Throughout the year we will focus on different choreographic tools, themes, and movement styles. We will work both individually and collaboratively to create dance pieces. Students will have the opportunity to develop dances and perform them for an audience. In addition to creating choreography, students will experiment in improvisation and partnering. This class is ideal for any student wishing to explore artistic expression through dance. Intermediate and advanced dancers only. Students must be at least 10 years old and take a minimum of two level 3+ classes in addition to a choreography class. Must be taking a minimum of two level 3+ classes a week in addition to choreography.
8-12 Combo Dance
This one-hour class is perfect for students ages 8-12, who are just starting into dance or who have some experience and want to continue to explore. The focus of this class is Tap, Ballet and Jazz, with a wide variety of enrichment opportunities. This class scaffolds on things learned in the 5-7 Combo class. This class also supports the growth towards Pre-Aerial, Pre-Ballet, Jazz 1, Lyrical 1, Poms 1, and Tap 1.
5-7 Combo Dance
This one-hour class is perfect for students ages 5-7, who are just starting into dance or who have some experience and want to continue to explore. The focus of this class is Tap and Ballet/Creative Movement, with a wide variety of enrichment opportunities. This class scaffolds on things learned in the Pre-School class. This class also supports the growth towards Pre-Aerial, Pre-Ballet, Jazz 1, Lyrical 1, Poms 1, and Tap 1.
Pre-School Dance
This 45-minute class is perfect for students ages 3-5, who are just starting into dance. The focus of this class is Tap and Ballet/Creative Movement, with a wide variety of enrichment opportunities.
Parent & Tot Classes
Introduce your child to the wonderful world of movement and music! Our Parent Tot classes are designed to help your child develop social, motor, and cognitive skills throughout their toddler years. We will use creative movement, educational play, exercises to develop coordination and rhythm, and social interaction alongside a wide variety of movements such as Ballet, Tap, Prop Dances, and Tumbling. Each class will include caregiver involvement, your child will love exploring movement and music in a comfortable space with you right by their side. You have the opportunity to help your child build their social skills while watching them grow in their ability to move and play with music. Our 45-minute Parent Tot classes are available to children ages 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers, moms, dads, grandparents, and more. If you and your child want to experience the joy of dancing these are the classes for you!
Classical Ballet 3
This level is dedicated to students ages 12 and up. It is a three-year curriculum that focuses on the introduction and mastery of Ballet Level 3 Skills. Students are required to take Classical Ballet 2-3 times weekly for a total of four to five and a half hours of instruction, including preparation for Pointe Work. Students may begin Pointe Work after an assessment. Eligibility for Pointe Work is determined by staff assessment of the students strength, overall technique and work ethic. Depending on student readiness, Peak Staff may choose to incorporate Classical Repertoire focusing on corps work from Ballets such as: Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty. Additionally, at this level, students are required to take the one hour Dancer Health Class each week.
Classical Ballet 2
This level is dedicated to students ages 10 and up. It is a three-year curriculum that focuses on the introduction and mastery of Ballet Level 2 Skills. It is two and a half hours weekly, however; students are invited to take an additional half an hour of Contemporary Ballet Choreography as a continuation of their second weekly technique class. Performance pieces for this class will be structured and modified around Classical Repertoire.
Adult Ballet
This class is for students ages 16 and up. It has an ongoing curriculum. Students meet for one hour or one and a half hours each week for the class. Adult students can expect to learn the basics of ballet movement in the beginning class with the introduction of center work and simple combinations. The intermediate level will have a full barre and center. The class will be based on the Vaganova syllabus.
Contemporary Ballet 4/5
This level is dedicated to students ages 14 and up. It is an ongoing curriculum that focuses on the development of dance artistry through the introduction and mastery of higher-level Ballet skills and technique refinement. It is one and a half hours weekly. Additionally, at this level, students are required to take the one hour Dancer Health Class each week.
Contemporary Ballet 3
This level is dedicated to students ages 12 and up. It is a two-year curriculum that focuses on the introduction and mastery of Ballet Level 3 skills. It is one and a half hours weekly, however; students are invited to register for Classical Ballet 2 for additional training.
Contemporary Ballet 2
This level is dedicated to students ages 10 and up. It is a two-year curriculum that focuses on the introduction and mastery of Ballet Level 2 skills. It is one and a half hours weekly, however; students are invited to register for Classical Ballet 2 for additional training.
Introduction to Ballet
This level is dedicated to students ages 10-15. It is an ongoing curriculum that focuses on introducing older students to the foundational skills of Ballet. It is 1 class weekly for an hour and a half. Students may move into level appropriate Classical, Contemporary, or Adult Classes at the mastery of foundational skills.
Ballet Level 1
This level is dedicated to students ages 8 and up. It is a three-year curriculum that focuses on the introduction and mastery of the Ballet Level 1 skills. It is one hour weekly, however; students are invited to register for more than one class per week.
Pre-Ballet
This level is dedicated to students ages 6-9. It is a two-year curriculum that focuses on building foundational skills needed for Ballet Level 1. It is one hour weekly.
Pre-School and 5-7 Combo Exploratory Classes
The Pre-School and 5-7 Combo Exploratory Classes have a built-in Ballet Component. Their curriculums have been updated to support a continuous progression of ballet-based skills, naturally leading students into Pre-Ballet.
Body Sculpt
This class is for students ages 18 and up. It has an ongoing curriculum. Students meet for one hour each week for the class. (Description of what will be learned still needed).
Adult Aerial
This class is for students ages 18 and up. It has an ongoing curriculum. Students meet for one and a half hours each week for the class. The class will work through various progressions of skills meeting students where they are at to encourage skill development. Absolute beginners to experienced aerialists are welcome!
Acrobatics Class
In this class, we will combine classic dance techniques with precision acrobatic elements. We will use unique choreography and blend dance and acrobatics. The students will get an opportunity to perfect and master, basic tumbling skills. They will also learn new tricks and that can be integrated into choreography. The students will work individually and with partners to explore duo tricks. They will also engage in exercises that will help them strengthen their bodies and become more flexible. These are mixed-level classes. This means that Levels 1, 2 and 3 might be working in the same class.
Aerial 5
This class is for students ages 14 and up. It has an ongoing curriculum. Students meet twice weekly for one and a half hours weekly. Students taking this class are required to take an additional dance class and the Dancer Health class. It is recommended for students to take both Acro and Choreography as these skills help them to develop as artists.
Aerial 4
This class is for students ages 13 and up. It has an ongoing curriculum. Students meet twice weekly for one and a half hours weekly. Students taking this class are required to take an additional dance class and the Dancer Health class. It is recommended for students to take both Acro and Choreography as these skills help them to develop as artists.
Aerial 3
This class is for students ages 12 and up. It is supported by a two to three-year curriculum. Students meet for one and a half hours each week for the class. Students taking this class are required to take an additional dance class each week. It is recommended for students to take an Acro class.
Int./Adv Teen Aerial

It is a class that introduces dancers to holistic practices that are vital for a dancer's longevity and wellness.
