Classes

Club Powerhouse Ages 7 plus

Dancers who fall into these ages ranges will be leveled by technical ability, not by age. Dancers will be offered full 1 hour classes in the styles of Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Lyrical and Contemporary. All Acrobatics classes are 90 minutes(1.5 hours) in order to ensure proper warm up, stretching and technique are studied properly. Each student will perform in the end of year showcase in the each style they have chosen to study.

Powerhouse Players Ages 5-6

Dancers who fall into this age range will be given the opportunity to take combination classes in the styles of Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Acrobatics and HipHop. Classes will be 1 hour, 30 minutes each in the styles they choose. Students will perform each style that they study in the year end showcase. Classes are set up to encourage dancers to take as many styles as possible to help them gain more advanced skills, terminology and help them decide which style they may want to pursue in their future dance education. These classes are designed to build a solid dance foundation at an early age.

Power-U-p Preschoolers Ages 3-4

Dancers who fall into this age range will be introduced to 3 styles of dance: Tap, Ballet and Acrobatics. Classes will be 1 hour, with 20 minutes each of tap, ballet and acrobatics. This will expose them to various movements and terminology to prepare them for a solid dance education. At the teacher's discretion, one of these styles of dance will be performed in the year end showcase. Dancers will have the option to take more than 1 hour per week if they so desire. Dancers MUST be fully potty trained, no pull ups, and able to have the confidence to be without their parent or guardian for the duration of the class. Parent observation days will be announced a few times throughout the season.

Preschool 3/4 Combo

Classes beginning at age 3 for dancers who are fully potty trained and ready to be independent of mom and dad. 1 hour combo classes that consist of Tap, Ballet and Acrobatics. Students to wear Black tap shoes and pink ballet shoes. For their uniform, students may wear any combination of leotards, biketards, crop tops, shorts or dance pants. Hair must be pulled off the face, loose hair must be clipped back.

Preschool 5/6 Combo

Classes beginning at age 5, these dancers can choose from several different combinations of classes. These are 1 hour classes, split into 30 minute classes of either Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Acrobatics or Hip Hop. Students to wear black Tap shoes, pink Ballet shoes, black Jazz shoes and bare feet for Acrobatics. For their uniform, students may wear any combination of leotards, biketards, crop tops, shorts or dance pants. Hair must be pulled off the face, loose hair must be clipped back.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of interpretive dance that combines elements from various genres including modern jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. It emphasizes expressive movement and encourages dancers to connect their mind and body through fluid dance movements. Students can wear bare feet or ballet shoes for this class. As they get more advanced we suggest getting some foot undeez. For their uniform, students may wear any combination of leotards, biketards, crop tops, shorts or dance pants. Hair must be pulled off the face, loose hair must be clipped back.

Musical Theater

In our Musical Theater classes, dancers will combine high-energy dance with acting and expression to create a performer with good stage presence. We encourage our dancers to learn basic stage direction and character building, as well as an overview of popular songs from American musical theater. Tap and Jazz classes are important to being successful in Musical Theatre as this style of dance uses many of those skills. Dancers are to wear black jazz shoes. Dancers may wear any style of dance wear or color. Dancers may choose to wear tights or socks with their jazz shoes. Absolutely no t-shirts, shorts or sweats.

Hip Hop

Our Hip Hop classes are high-energy, freestyle class that focus on rhythm, coordination and personal expression. Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. Therefore, this class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements. We push our students to their self expression and improvisational skills to advance in this style of dance. Students require black dance high to sneakers to be purchased through the front desk. Dancers For their uniform, students may wear any combination of leotards, biketards, crop tops, shorts or dance pants. NO SWEATS,T-SHIRTS or JEANS. Hair must be pulled off the face, loose hair must be clipped back.

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation and structure for all forms of dance. Our classes consist of barre work, across floor an combinations. Ballet helps with muscle memory, movement and artistic expression. We strive for our dancers to have the best ballet technique, discipline and terminology to set them up for success in all areas of life. Ballet students must have Pink canvas cross over ballet shoes, which can be purchased from us or at Dancewear Corner. You will also need pink or white ballet stockings(excluding combo classes) and a leotard. Hair must be clipped or pinned up during all full hour ballet classes. Absolutely no dance shorts, dance pants, crops, 2 piece, t-shirts, shorts or sweats.

Jazz

In our jazz classes, we focus on primary jazz techniques including isolations, turns, leaps and musicality. We inject fun and movement into all of our jazz classes with many varieties of music and cultures to keep an energetic and upbeat environment for our dancers. Dancers are to wear black jazz shoes. Dancers may wear any style of dance wear or color. Dancers may choose to wear tights or socks with their jazz shoes. Absolutely no t-shirts, shorts or sweats.

Tap

Our tap classes focus on fundamental building blocks of dance. Tap dance teaches dancers to use their feet as instruments. Teaching rhythm, counting, musicality and timing. Tap helps in weight and balance skills and teaches students to use sounds and tempo. Students require Black tap shoes. Shoes can be purchased through us or at Dancewear Corner. For their uniform, students may wear any combination of leotards, biketards, crop tops, shorts or dance pants. Hair must be pulled off the face, loose hair must be clipped back.Absolutely no t-shirts, shorts or sweats.

Acrobatics

We are Acrobatic Arts Certified and we take the time to build and strengthen each dancer to their fullest ability. Acrobatics is a great base in dance for strength, flexability, power and tumbling. Students do not need footwear for this class. They must wear tight fitting clothing such as leotards, sports tops and dance shorts/pants with their hair tied back so that they do not get it caught or tangled in any way when they are doing their tricks. Absolutely no t-shirts, shorts or sweats.

Camps

Full Day Camp
$300.00

Full day camps begin at 9am and end at 4pm. They will learn various styles of dance, tumbling and have participate in various activities. Dancers will break for lunch at noon (lunch is to be brought with them, no students may leave the building during camp hours) and resume camp activities at 1pm.

Half Day Camp
$175.00

Powerhouse Dance Complex will host camps for dancers ages 4 to 12. Each week will be a different theme where dancers can explore many styles of dance, fun activities, music related games and make new friends! Dancers will participate in dance, choreography, tumbling games and activities.
