Lake Dance Steps

All competition dancers must take ballet. Raquel Lake will place you at your ballet class level. Ballet is the foundation for all dance and is vital in building strong dance technique.

For the dancer who loves to perform, the Lake Dance Steps program provides an opportunity to learn, advance, showcase and compete. Team participation includes competing at National Dance Competitions.

The Competition Dance program is a 1st place-winning national competition team. Dancers perform at recitals and also compete at competitions. Competition students must audition or be invited by the instructor. They may participate in Jazz, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, and Lyrical styles. All competition dancers must also enroll in Ballet, and auditions are held in the summer.

The Starlettes & Dazzlers class introduces basic jazz dance steps, focusing on movement, rhythm, coordination, flexibility, and fun dance combos. Dazzlers also offers beginning tumbling skills.

The Jazz/Hip Hop Class offers energetic and upbeat jazz dance consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps, and quick turns, as well as the latest popular street and video moves put into fun and exciting combinations. Students work on placement and technique while learning modern, funky, and contemporary jazz styles. The class includes a warm-up, floor progressions, and combinations. It also features age-appropriate choreography.

Pre-pointe/Pointe class is designed for students with previous ballet experience and should be taken in addition to Ballet 3, 4, and 5. The class focuses on the development of specific muscle groups required for pointe work.

Ballet is the fundamental foundation of all dance forms. Lake Dance Steps places a strong emphasis on classical ballet training. While ballet is not mandatory, it is highly recommended for building proper alignment, posture, and placement necessary for advanced dance techniques. The class format emphasizes the correct development of both the technical and artistic elements of classical ballet and reflects pure traditional training.

Fairytale Ballet are pre-ballet classes designed to introduce very young, beginner dancers to the world of dance. The classes focus on teaching ballet positions, exercises, and beginner dance terminology, while also helping the dancers develop basic motor skills through dance combinations. Props are used to keep the students engaged and excited about dance.

Princess Ballet are pre-ballet classes designed to introduce very young, beginner dancers to the world of dance. Monthly tuition for Competition Dance classes is based on a 4 class per month average. Realizing there are 5 weeks in certain months and sometimes less in others-- payment schedules will remain the same each month. Students must also be enrolled in ballet.

Monthly tuition for Pre-Pointe/Pointe & Ballet 4-5 Technique classes is based on a 4 class per month average. Realizing there are 5 weeks in certain months and sometimes less in others-- payment schedules will remain the same each month. Students must also be enrolled in Ballet.
